Yeah I mean having a bigger secure container in Tarkov is nice and all, and starting with some gear you can pick from is nice, but if you suck at the game then you're just holding onto that gear for the next person who kills you. And the anti-scav items you can get through Unheard Edition are actually a detriment since it gives you negative scav rep if you kill a scav while using it so it's completely worthless.
In this game however you can buy a full gigachad kit for real cash and then spend more cash to buy a daily cap of 250 million in-game currency. And aside from the secure container thing being locked behind premium, the premium membership also awards you with above average loot from NPC kills and containers. The game is completely designed around letting people who spend real money snowball.
Hell EoD is pay to win and I say this as someone who stupidly supported BSG and bought EoD in 2017.
I won't be making the same mistake and investing anything into ABI.
I can kill juiced gigachads and still think it's a trash decision. All I'm hearing from you is cope.
And don't forget, how long ago did EFT release?
Give the Publishers and Devs a chance, the game is out for a couple of hours.
Let them learn and improve.
They never did such a big game before.
You keep repeating this, so either you are not understanding why its an issue or you are not acknowledging.
You are right. I don't "Have to spend money" but that doesn't mean the game is not directly invested in making me want to spend money. Why is the loot not worth very much, But the gear is so expensive? The most valuable items are hard to come by, and you can't save them if you don't already have a secure container. Which means already you are at a disadvantage versus someone who does have one, Because when they die its less punishing.
Part 2 of this issue. A large component of a PvP, Looter shooter like ABI is a player driven economy. I take stuff in, I take stuff out and sell it to you. I die and you take my stuff, and now I have to buy more from you. That creates a healthy cycle and adds to the living economy. A good example of this is early wipe in EFT. Items that are used to upgrade your hideout are inflated in price to massive scale because everyone is trying to buy them or sell them for profit. As this goes on they go down. Gear is not that expensive because people aren't buying it and trying to PvP because if they die then it sets them back.
Now lets take ABI. I die in a raid with my last good kit. I have no money left to purchase what I need. So what are my options? I could load in and try to "Zero to hero" but I didn't spend IRL money on a secure container so if I die I'm back to where I started. I could Scav, and scrape together a few bucks to buy a half decent kit. But that is required I'm able to survive the scav raid and find some loot worth anything.
Now, What if I were to just spend 100 bucks on 10 million Koen? I didn't have to risk anything, I can't lose it without being able to spend it first. And now, I can buy the best gear off the auction house and have a way better chance of making it out alive. I didn't have to go into any raids so nobody killed me and made a profit off my gear or took my loot. I didn't kill anyone else or take any loot off the map. Both of which have a direct impact on the economy.
If I am not having to loot to make money, The value of the loot goes down, Because I don't need to buy your GPU and give you a million credits. I can just supply myself and keep it by buying Koen.
So now, What happens to the price of the gear? I don't have to loot, and you aren't selling anything too me. So that M4 is now going to be more expensive, Because that IS what I am buying and I have so much more money than you that I can afford the best armor, gun and ammo, And now you cannot.
The whole point of buying the tippy top best stuff is so you don't get killed by the random plebeian who's on a budget run or doing a run in gear that's not so defensive they walk like the Terminator. "Just kill them and take their best stuff!". Spoken like someone who has never had to throw down with someone in a 2.5m dollar kit while you're running your scraped together hodgepodge stuff because you're broke and farming because you keep getting dropped by full squads of T6 fully juiced players. L Brain take bruh.
