seems like armor doesnt help that much anyway in this game, so low TTK will be fine in late game.
it is pay2win for sure if they do it like in the mobileversion and you can see the secure container have a expire date so wen can guess it will be like in the mobile version
1 - its EA and wipes are needed to clear out stored items because of changes.
2 - it makes the P2W part of EFT mean more, encouraging you to buy the higher end package. If you get all your package gear back every wipe, its an immediate advantage over those that don't.
I never have played, never will play games that do "hard resets". I don't see the purpose.
Like you mention Hunt: Show down, and Marauders do it right. Prestiging system I'm all for. Not losing my guns and attachements every so often.
So I'm hoping it's one of those games that go the way of the two above. I never even knew Tarkov did it on purpose. I thought it was for the reason of early access. As that's reasonable, when games go from alpha to beta, early access, full release, yes most of the time progress is wiped/reset it makes sense. But once it comes out, it's simple, I want to keep my stuff. Instead of resetting the same things, add more content.
Just copying here my comment from the other similar thread:
Gladly, the developers on Reddit confirmed there won't be wipes because they don't want to alienate the fanbase that invests a lot of time in the game. As pointed out above, many prominent games in this and adjacent genres do not have wipes and are doing just fine (Hunt, etc.) The wipes are also the reason I quit EFT - as a man with responsibilities, I can't afford to waste hundreds of hours to get what I have already got because the devs are incapable of coming up with a progression system that would last.
The real reason there won't be wipes is because players won't spend money on items that will get deleted. It goes against thier P2W business model.
I can go into a late season and still clap kids with low level ammo access. It sounds to me much more of a skill issue. You should remind yourself tarkov is about headshot meta. If you're spending your whole time aiming for the torso you're gonna cry about balancing issues. Early game - MP5, burst, pst ammo, aim for head... win.
A lot of those changes were needed, and some have been issues for a long time, like the god awful sound issues. Still needs heavy work ahead, but it's getting there. There's a lot of core issues the game needs to fix, but it's future is likely that of a pve game.
All they had to do was not make solos with white gear, go against trios with purple gear.
