What other games are like Ys Origin on Steam?
I really love this game and would love to play more games with a similar style. I plan on playing The Oath in Felghana, but aside from that, any recs?

What I like most about Ys Origin is the fast paced combo kills, and the colors when you attack and pick up items. (Also enjoy using a controller, but not a requirement.)

Also there is Ys 6 - the first Ys with that engine, but Steam doesn't sell it.

Ys series is kinda unique in its kind. I play lot of RPGs myself but rare are the ones like it (on Steam, I mean) that I play. I would randomly suggest Recettear but it doesn't exactly share the same epic style, gameplay/battle wise. I'd gladly take anything similar to this, myself. I really love the kind.

If you're not tied exclusively to PC get Ys Seven for PSP or Ys Ark of Nepishtim on PS2. On steam? I'm drawing a blank other than Recettear which Sera already mentioned and it's a lot less action focussed than Ys is. There's also Bastion which is slower paced than Ys but still excellent (and currently on sale super cheap).

Ragnarok Online is similar in very ways tough it's not on steam. Also ragnarok is a MMORPG,while YS is singleplayer.

Ah thanks guys. I meant excusivly on Steam, but I think I may check out YS 6, and Ys Ark of Nepishtim.

I tried the demo for Recettear (& that other one thatw as on sale with it today... Chantelise? or something.) because they did look a bit simular, but sadly I did not like them.

@Romaen: I actually just bought Bastion a week ago and I do love it! And the voice over completely 100% makes it.

@Noobius Maximus: I actually played Ragnarok Online for YEARS, and when telling my freind to get YS Origin, I actually compared it to RO + Zelda. (or SOMETHING, was more what I said, becaue I cannot really classify this game either....)

This may be slightly off topic, but there is this EPIC SNES game called Terranigma. Really recommend everyone to check it out.
It's very similar in gameplay style when it comes to the action part, but the story is at least half the game, which in itself is epc. One of the best games ever made.

Really? No one suggested Bastion? Ys is pretty much isometric action RPG.

Yes, from what I know and remember, Terranigma(and Illusion of Gaia along with Soul Blazer I guess) are from Quintet, which I think is the same team behind the creation of the original Ys games! However they're all pretty old, for the Snes.

Actually Fortune Summoners is kinda similar but instead of top down gameplay it is sidescrolling but is still a very satisfying game, when I first played it I couldn't stop, it is also a pretty long game. So i highly reccomend playing it. (If you get it and play it and end up needing help feel free to add me)

I haven't tried Chantelise yet but I hope to soon.

Will these games come to the pc at some point?

Both of them are already on the PC. It's just that neither version has an official English release.

Definitely go with Chantelise

Definitely wish Ys 6 and 7 would make it to Steam. That would make my day.

I'd also recommend Chantelise.
