Any way to open the menu on a controller?
It seems kind of ridiculous that I have to reach over and hit escape on the keyboard to open the menu when I am playing on a controller.

Use the launcher to configure the controls. The menu is bound to something dumb by default, IIRC it was the left stick click.

It wouldn't let me change it. The config menu doesn't recognize my controller, but in game does. But at least now I know I can open it with right click, so thank you.

Are you using a DualShock 4? The launcher doesn't recognize mine either but it works in-game. Just configure it manually in the INI file then.

- Go to %userprofile%\Saved Games\FALCOM\yso_win
- Find yso_win.ini
- Change the controls under [input], for example I'm using:
Assign{PAD_ACTION}="Button3"
Assign{PAD_JUMP}="Button1"
Assign{PAD_SHOT}="Button6"
Assign{PAD_USE}="Button5"
Assign{PAD_MENU}="Button8"
Assign{PAD_WALK}="Button9"
Assign{PAD_SWORD_REVD}="Button2"
Assign{PAD_SWORD_REVU}="Button4"

See this diagram[www.pngkit.com] for what each button number stands for. The game won't recognize the triggers though.

No. I used a spare DS4 from my PS4, but I just had so many issues with it in certain games that I went out and bought an Xbox One controller specifically for use with Steam.

Adjusting it from there while knowing which button was what helped. Thanks.

I recommend swapping magic to one of the shoulder buttons too. The default controls makes it awkward to charge magic.

I am not that far in yet, so it hasn't been an issue yet. I did make attack the left button, jump the bottom button, and magic or skill or whatever the right button (playing as the axe girl if that males a difference).

I did eventually do this before beating the game. It helped a lot.

Adding to this, for anyone else having to use the ini file to change button mappings: (with Playstation controller terms):

"Button1" =X
"Button2" =Circle
"Button3" =Triangle
"Button4" =Square
"Button5" =L1
"Button6" =R1
"Button7" =select
"Button8" =start
"Button9" =left bumper
"Button10" =right bumper

Seems like R2 and L2 are not available for this game (?)

Raising this from the dead, not seeing the ini file in the game folder. Any ideas?

It's not in the game folder, it's in %userprofile%\Saved Games\FALCOM\yso_win. Just copy & paste this into Explorer,, or press Windows + R and again paste the address.
