Ys Origin
Demonic core arena immposible as Toal in nightmare ?
I have tried it many times

it was so really hard, i know it called nightmare but really........

the enemy hit like truck, like it deal 40-50 damage, i really hate that spinning disc monster and that spore mushroom monster that will give you all status effect from heavy, confuse, poison, and curse, it also hit me for 60 whooping damage , and dodging it was really hard, there is 4-5 of them and their projectiles is not only fast but it also hard to read, trying to kiling it as melee Toal is quite crazy.

The last stage was the raregloves monster, the blue knight armor, it hit you for 100 damage and will give you heavy status, so you wil die once you get hit by it, Using dash would not help because it also moves fast and don't forget he also accomponied by 6-7 flying mages that also hit me for 20-30 damage, oh and each of them throw around homing 4-5 missiles so having 35 missiles projectiles been shoot at you while being chased by that rare gloves is good. Using burst is not effective because he can block it, and attacking them in melee range is suicede.

I managed to kill the flying mage all of it using burst, and only have 3 hp left. I decided to kite the rare gloves and using burst again and again because my boost meter filled up so fast in red hp,

decided to use wind dash(god speed) and spamming burst , yep i using nearly 10 burst, most of it gotten blocked by it's shield and i only deal 30 damage if it hits , i remember i already dealy 300 damage to them but i think they still have around 600-700 hp. Suddenly my face got really itchy , and i was kiting them for nearly 20 minutes, one of rare gloves attack, i thought i dodge it, i forgot each of their slash have this lighting shock wave and i got hit for whooping 110 damage.

I watch youtube video of Toal in nightmare in demonic core. I feels weird, this guy managed to lvl up faster than me and got less damage for that. My hp was 304 at Rare gloves stage but that guy on this vid got 353 hp, he got 5 damage from that flying mage and 80 damage from rare gloves, he got hit 1 times and managed to survive even with heavy status. And his burst deal 60 damages.

i always got that x1.99 bonus exp , i have the same pattern play as that guy, spamming charged lighting attack as Toal and use burst at last moment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAmbu9aySnc

The video was in 2015, so i think maybe falcom nerfed it ? i don't know what version that guy play, ps vita , ps 4 or steam.

It was really nightmare mode, the guy got 500k sp anyway.

I really hate this arena, i know it is nightmare , but really this is nearly immposible , you need a lot luck at the spore mushroom and rare gloves stage.

Wait so hard as Toal? It is the easiest as Toal what are you talking about? He's the only character with a dodge (dash) and proper aerial attack. His claw attack does massive damage to enemies especially as EX Toal.

Also, it is nightmare, a challenge. Not ever challenge need to be beaten by everyone. You either get better with practice and learn what you are doing wrong or just give up. Complaining about difficulty especially when it is an optional mode for and extra challenge thing always sounded stupid to me. It's because of this kinda thinking that we have CS2 where on nightmare mode even under leveled you can one shot Vermillion by doing 314k damage or delay every single boss in the game so that they don't get a single turn or make an evasion tank that can't get hit.

So yeah, if you can't do it even after everything then just give up. Who cares, it is a game, no one is gonna make fun of you and if they do they are stupid. If you truly want it, stop complaining and learn what you are doing is wrong. Trust me, it is very much doable without too much of a problem.

As for tip for the knights. Attack them when they are about to attack or wait for them to dash. You cannot hurt them otherwise and they will block all your attacks. My personal method of killing them is to use the fire tornado but start it in mid air. Jump and then release it. It gives you so much freedom to attack and dodge at the same time. Use the claws on other smaller enemies to gain some health especially if they come at you in hoards.

You shouldn't have any problem beating this arena as Toal. He has a self healing ability, dash and a fire tornado which he can activate in mid air for good hit and run tactics.

okay i was bad at it, maybe after many trial i can get it

but quite curious in that youtube vid, that guy seems got more lvl than me, does it got nerfed ? the vid was in 2015

i also check leader board, the fastest guy was done it in 16 minutes as toal, the 11th-15 th finished it in one hour

the 2nd to 10 th finished it in 25 minutes to 41 minutes.

does it mean it was quite hard ? or the leader board is wrong and every people actually can finish it easily with many retry ?

It's not that hard. If you know what you are doing you can beat it really quick. I won't get into the advance plays for this game. Every character has a special button combo move (hadoken motion) and it reduces def if I remember correctly. If you can spam that you can easily obliterate enemies. But it's kinda tricky to use if you ask me. Also no, I doubt they nerfed it.

The speedruns tend to use the Lunge attack, which dramatically reduces defense. It's been a while but I want to say it's even in the tutorial screens. It's really fussy to pull off though and not really worth it for anyone but speedrunners.

To kill the knights, bait their lightning attack and hit them after. Also try to focus fire on one at a time so only he gets his powered-up attack.
