FMVs squished to the top of the screen on 21:9 resolutions
I just started playing Ys origin on my 21:9 monitor, and while the gameplay itself renders flawlessly at any resolution, I am encountering an issue where the FMV cutscenes appear vertically squished into the top 1/8 of my screen if I run it in a 21:9 resolution such as 3440x1440. This issue doesn't occur in Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which runs on the same engine. in Felghana, the FMVs are correctly centered on the screen with black bars on the sides.

If I change my resolution to a 16:9 resolution (2560x1440), the FMV cutscenes are displayed correctly, so it seems to be an issue with the way the game displays its FMVs on resolutions with an apsect ratio wider than 16:9.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Also, how many FMVs are interspersed throughout the main game? Will I miss much by disabling FMVs entirely?

I ran into the same issue today.

I am also curious if there is way to get the movies to display correctly, short of changing the resolution from outside the game, and how many movies are there within the game?

I upgraded top a 32:9 monitor recently, and the FMV issue is still there.

Sara Leen from XSeed said she might have a fix for this, but I don't know if she ever had a chance to test it.

Hi, I was wondering if you were able to resolve this issue?

Unfortunately it'll require someone at XSeed to fix. From what I remember, it supposedly has to has to do with the width and height 'stretch' values being swapped or something. It works fine on 16:9 resolutions, but completely bugs out if the aspect ratio isn't 16:9.

I'm wondering if we should maybe message Sara Leen from XSeed over Twitter. She said she might know how to fix it when I asked about it on the Felghana board a while back, but chances are she hasn't had a chance to look at it yet (or maybe forgot) ;)

Her twitter is @SaraJLeen if you want to reach out.

Did any of you reach out to Sara? I can if no one did (I think I can, I can count on one hand the amounts of time I sent a tweet lol). I just don't want to bug her with this if either of you already reached out :steamhappy:

Like you all said, it's too bad this is happening with the FMVs, because aside from that the game works flawlessly for me at 21:9

My temporary workaround is well... I found a playlist on Youtube with all the cut-scenes, so when I get to one I just reach for my phone and follow along there instead.

HI all. Had the same problem but found more or less a solution on game start just uncheck the fullscreen mode and set it to any resolution you like i thin should work for higher reolutions too then just install the borderless gaming app and start the game in window mode then go to borderless gaming select the game and youre done ;). tried with 1920x1080 and ive got a screen that normally runs in 2560x1080 and worked just fine had mini borders on the top and bottom . hope i could help
