I wrote a guide that explains how to edit the file along with a layout based on how they mapped the buttons of the PS4 port of the game.

A) the default gamepad mapping is horrible, i.e. it maps Jump to the "B" Button
B) the vibration doesn't work with this game (at least not on the "test" button with the config tool, but I presume it also does not work at any point in the game, either).
C) Cancel & Jump have to be mapped to the same one button, even though Cancel should be B and Jump should be A.
D) the config tool does not allow me to change the gamepad inputs, even though it is supposed to perform that function.
In addition, I also found the in-game manual to be really annoying & worthless, because it was telling me what the keyboard keys do, even though that information is useless to me because I am using a gamepad.
I tried to follow the instructions of Sweetz' guide listed above, but doing that was a chore, and it doesn't fix the problems of Jump/Cancel on the same one button, or the vibration not working.
Really, the devs should be fixing all this stuff that's broken rather than leaving the end users to perform convoluted workarounds on their own, that only fix some of the issues.
And the in-game manual should be explaining which buttons on the gamepad - not keyboard keys - activate which functions.
Do the other Ys games also have the same problems? Do I have to go through this same kind of rigamarole again for every Ys game, before a gamepad will work semi-properly with the game?
