Ys: The Oath in Felghana

Ys: The Oath in Felghana

Game crashes on launch since the update
So, sicne the last update I'm not able to play Ys since the game crashes on launch on both version of the game. I start the game, watch/skip the two intro movies then the menu screen is displayed (without the actual menu) and the music start looping for half a second before plain and simply crashing (unhelpful error message and all). I've looked through the game's directory and it seems that there's a dump created after each crash but the file is encrypted and I can't get any informatiion from it, even with notepad.

If anyone would have any idea of what might go wrong. I might had that I'm running Win7 and Ys was performing flawlessly prior to the update

At least for me, also on Windows 7, the game still runs okay. Try setting XP compatibility mode and see if that helps.

Did that as well as running the .exe as an administrator and it changed nothing

Very sorry to hear that it's giving you so much trouble. My next best suggestion is to delete the config folder (users\username\Saved Games\FALCOM\ysf_win), then uninstall the game and reinstall. This won't delete your saved games - they are stored in Steam's cloud folder.

I can't think what else could be causing your issue unless you've got some kind of exotic hardware.

Well, I did what you suggested and the crashes happens. It's a shame since the game look promising...

In that case, you can be sure that the problem is a new element in the game's latest update that made it incompatible with some part of your hardware. I would list out your hardware config here and hopefully Sara will see it and be able to patch a fix for it.

That all seems pretty standard. Not sure what the problem is, but hopefully Sara will check it out.
