What is the same:
- Characters & Main Story Events/
- Level designs, Monsters & Bosses, Weapons & Items/
- Overall combat & magic systems, boss rushes & time attack mode.
- Cutscenes, Graphics & Soundtracks.
What is different:
+ New re-drawn portraits for characters in dialogue (you can toggle original art styles if wanted)
+ New voice lines including Adol (much different from current Steam voices, oh and Adol still being silent most of the time anyway).
+ Turbo-mode (increase game speed for challenge I guess)
+ Bring one feature from PSP version - dual boost accessory - allowing you to boost twice.
That being said I'm glad to see XSeed still has the license for at least one Falcom game it previously localised. It doesn't guarantee anything, but it makes me slightly hopeful at least that they also still hold the license to a certain other Falcom game they're hinting at remaking. (I'm keeping my hopes in check, don't worry, and I know it'll be a long time even if it IS true, but I'm just saying).
There would not be much of an issue since Steam itself supports different branches under beta options/launching different options at game startup
If we are talking Game version yes it's manageable, but saves and leaderboard score stuffs? Gonna be quite a pain for devs to deal with questions like - I got save from original, can I use it in newer branch and vice-versa? Why should I start fresh new just to play new version when I already 100% original ver? My time attack scores got deleted, items are missing. etc.
Oh and everytime there is a new update for new version, they still have to make it doesn't break the original game too. And merging the game technically original will have to change too (perhaps new revised coding, new engine version), which could affect original performance, for better or worse.
In other words, saying is easy, but doing it is a little bit dramatic.
Should be locked 60 fps and up to 120 fps as usual, unlocked fps may break game physics and animations of characters & enemies. Plus Memoire also has turbo mode where game speed is increased for challenge, but to confidently do that, you really need a stable locked fps first.
