My game's been crashing at this part as well.

Edit: restarted my computer. And then I see that the servers are down (can't get past the main menu).

The game is very demanding on your CPU and GPU when loading in initially. Try closing programs and don't do anything outside of the game until it loads in.

Definitely needs to be optimized better. I crash when loading in occasionally as well but once I'm in at least it's fine.

This coincided with a message saying steam couldnt connect to cloud storage. when searching for steam outage there was a huge spike in reports.

Same, got a message steam couldnt connect to cloud storage and now just sits at title screen.

Yep. . . same here. . . problem with having online only :( The least they can do is state the server status.

They are having server issues again. They may not announce it but you can check the online player totals. When you see a sudden dip in players you know it's because of server issues and not because half of the people playing all decided to close the game at the exact same time.

Edit: You have to be logged in to actually get precise data and see the dips.

It actually seems to be Steam's fault. I was playing Helldivers and lost network connection, and then I got out and saw that Steam couldn't sync cloud saves and showed no connection for downloads. On the forums everyone reported the same thing.

^ as the above said, it was actually Steam's Servers Going Down, the past hour or two, my active game had actually reset my current playtime in the game that I initially was playing for 8 hours, but kept resetting the current play session

I've been logged in all day but actually did a relog when I saw this thread (was worried maybe progress wasn't getting saved) and was fine...

I did notice steam itself go offline for a bit but I didn't even get kicked out of the game so that's nice.

Servers seem up now. It did take me two tries, though.
