r47 old in-game sound effects download
i hope this is ok to post don't kill me pls devs :X

Note: I only did (hopefully all of) the in-game sounds, eg. items, grappling hook. The menu sound files and the countdown in between rounds are kinda weird to work with so I didn't touch those, but hopefully this is still better than nothing for people who want the old sounds back.

[edit] Compatible with r46 now. I'm not 100% positive all the sounds are correct, let me know if they aren't.

Download here[www.dropbox.com]

To replace files:
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpeedRunners\Content\Audio
2. Replace the "Sfx" folder with the one in the zip.
3. Um that's it I guess?

TehSeven, you are freaking awesome! You brougbt back the old sound effects! Man...freaking awesome!

They work brilliantly. Now...any way to bring back the old main menu/in-game music? That shouldn't be too difficult, right? :) I may have to dabble in that myself and see if I can bring back that old music.

EDIT: Never mind, guess that's pretty easy, to change the music back to the old music(Level, Boss, Menu).

Again, thanks for doing this! The game once again has become playable!

Someone buy them a beer already. They just prevented WW3 from happening in Speedrunners. You've done a great deed, and I thank you for that.

There is one problem though. I was trying to add in the old music (Level, Boss, Menu) by replacing the new versions with the old versions. This did not take for some reason. After I launched the game, it kept immediately closing, like it knew something was wrong(probably because I replaced the new music with the old music).

I went ahead and went to Game Properties and then went to Verify Game Cache and that re-downloaded the original Sfx folder(sound effects and all) and the new music. So basically, if you want to keep the old sound effects in tact and not have to do the steps above again, don't Verify Game Cache, like I had to do.

Anyways, TehSeven, is there any way to effectively replace the new music with the old music and where it'll actually work?

I play with SR music off so I didn't even try to do much with the music files, but it seems that in r45 they are ogg files rather than wma files, maybe you can use something like this[media.io] to convert whatever you need and then replace.

I was going to do something like this, good job :D

The "item_grapplinghook_attach_2.xnb" is the sound when you hit something that is not a grapple ceiling.

The new sfx are awesome tho. I don't know why people don't like them :/

waitwaitwaitwaitwait. So the sounds are from the gamefolder? So you're telling me that I could potentially have a guitar sound every time I grapple?

Thanks for that man! After doing a bit of fiddling around with the different quality, I was able to make it work. I actually chose High quality(192 kbit/s) OGG file output first, but that didn't work(game kept closing right at launch), so I then chose Extreme quality(320 kbit/s) OGG file output and that seemed to be the ticket.

Old Menu, Level, and Boss music are now in play in the game. Awesome!

Old sound effects, check!

Old music, double check!

Old lobby.......hmm...lol

Because they just don't sound the same, and they sound way too 'mechanic'. And because of that, it's too distracting.
