Even 5-6 players would be great because you might have a few extra folks over. We're not being so competitive that a 4-max number of players is enough.
8 players would be crazy on-screen action, but it would still be fun.
You think there can only play 4-players at the same time? - No, you can see from the video on that website, there could be up to 16 players. Lobbies use "slot pages", there are only 4-slot on page, (and 4 pages means 4 x 4 = 16) and it's easy to use. I already tested and got work 8 controllers instantly in the same game at the same time. It's amazing!
Hi, I just tried the 8 player mod for Speedrunners, but I couldn't get the game to recognize more than 4 controllers for local multiplayer. Were you able to get that working?
Did you follow the instructions:
"How to Install
Extract the ZIP File
First, download the mod from this page and extract it into any directory of your choosing.
Copy the Game Content
The game's assets, such as animations, images, and audio, make up about 650MB and have therefore been omitted from the ZIP file. We NEED them though. So, let's copy some directories.
You're probably using Steam to launch SpeedRunners, so this step will be pretty straightforward: In your Steam library, select SpeedRunners and click on the "Manage" button with the cog icon. By clicking Manage > Browse local files, the base game directory will open up.
In the base game directory, you should find a directory called Content. If you're using workshop items, there may also be a WorkshopContent directory there. Copy the content directories right into your modded SpeedRunners directory, so that SpeedRunners.exe and Content are at the same place."
NOTE:
I think I just deleted all the others files than WorkshopContent and Content files from the base game directory and copied all mod content from the mod folder to the base game directory. Launch from Steam.
We used to play with 4 PS4 controllers and 4 Xbox controllers. 8 Xbox controllers should work too. Also 8 PS4 controllers should work. Steam input should be on. All these information you can check here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/11707935-More-Than-4-Local-Multiplayer/list/121103/
Remember there is 4 pages in the lobby. You can see only 4 players at the same time, 4+ players are on the next page.
