Talk to Universal Studios. or Marvel. or Konami.
You do realize Dracula is a public domain, right? Those companies literally do not own the rights to the character.
Because Dracula is too "cliche" and this cliche has been revived too recently, maybe they tried to go for something else.
Although...going for Dracula because in VRising you only get to fight him, a "marketing angle" could've been you get to play him.
Also...lol Monkey King has been milked to death -_-. Maybe the dev just wanted a girl vampire character realised /shrug xD.
The Carmilla "twist" adds a little bit of interest...I've never heard of Carmilla...so it was nice to read about her. There's something a little too adjacent to Scarlet with her "resisting the dark side" persona which is made a little worse by Scarlet having "life steal" in her kit.
But we shall see what her gameplay vibe actually is.
Dracula voice lines could've been hilarious and fun to play around though.
Anyways, she's already here, I am just happy unlike VRising, visually it looks more like "vampire gameplay", and not basic mmorpg swords/spells with "vampire stats".
Advertisement and popularity sake lol. Also the whole "lesser known" character angle doesnt hold up when a lot of the game is riding on folktales people actually know. Such as little red riding hood, three pigs, the pied piper, etc.
You cant just say it's good to have a folktale no one knows when the entire game is full of popular folktales. Also the fact you think dracula is generic when he's literally the face of vampire folk lore and has only been playable in a game less than a handful of times is very telling.
Please tell me how tired you are of seeing dracula in gaming oh noooo he's been in like 2 games for the past 5 years. Lol.
Maybe you're a little slow on the roll yourself. Did you ever consider why Dracula is so popular? Because everyone knows him and he brings attention/sales. This is a product. A game. It would have made more sense to go with the more popular option.
Also like, maybe 3 games in existence have ever let you play as Dracula yet you act like this is a common thing. Maybe you're just delusional?
V-Rising did dracula and sold very well. Dead by Daylight did dracula and it sold very well. Dracula sells well because he's a liked character. Pretending people don't want more of what they like is a bit absurd.
I do agree. The angle they could have went with Dracula here was that he could have been fully playable. Which is quite rare for a game to have.
Carmilla isnt a bad choice - it just isn't the one that would net the best outcome. Im also very happy to have a vampire that actually plays like a vampire. That was one aspect to v rising I wasnt a fan of too.
Doesn't mean he wouldn't have attracted much more attention to the game, though. Lot of people love Dracula. Also how are you bored of Dracula? Up until V Rising and DBD he literally wasnt in any game for years. If you're bored of something appearing in 2 games then that's kind of weird.
Name 5 games released in the past decade where Dracula appears. Go on. Put your "lol dracula is overused" statement to the test.
