IMO, the only major thing Ravenswatch has going for it is the different characters and their banter with each other during a run. That's a nice detail that adds immersion and is the icing on top for each character being unique or at least different.
As for roguelite elements... IMO, the game shouldn't have such a tag. Literally the only "roguelite" thing it has is "run based" gameplay and RNG of locations/upgrades during a run. Compare that to actual Roguelites like Hades, Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy, etc. and there's a lot more RNG content, Meta Progression, synergies, or customization.
Again, not saying Ravenswatch is bad, just saying I do not think it is "one of the best".
Little content, severe design and balance issues, multiplayer is almost pointless with how everything is done. Feel and graphics as well and theme are nice but I'm not even sure if this game is any better than their last one.
Hades is a 10, Enter the Gungeon is a 12, I wouldn't put this game in a top 30.
I think "parade of bitterness" is a stretch. People can like different things or find something lackluster without being bitter. I mean, I can only speak for myself and I'll reiterate that I do not think Ravenswatch is a bad game. For me, it's a 6.5 or 7/10 game when you play with friends. It's one of the only co-op games in the genre and the play on tales/heroes is interesting.
And that's completely fine! Games are supposed to be about fun, so who really cares as long as you are having fun. IMO, it's clear the Devs have passion for the game and are trying to make a good, interesting, game... which says a lot.
So where is this "parade of bitterness" then? Just people disagreeing (somewhere around 5 before you posted) counts as "bitter" for you?
Just depends on how we view certain things I guess. As for the co-op comment, what I meant was that Ravenswatch is one of the only/few games that had co-op in mind from the start of development and is built around it in the genre. E.g. Sword of the Necromancer has co-op but it's basically a tacked on feature when compared to Ravenswatch.
But I digress...
