Sun Wukong
I'm gonna be frank, man. This looks ridiculous next to the other characters all being standard high fantasy archetype humans.

Is your Chinese playerbase that profitable?

I don't see how the monkey king is out of the ordinary.

They're still humans.
This guy is a monkey.
Those are also all European stories, plus Aladdin which is largely adjacent thanks to Disney.
Also lmao "dev answer."

What's racist about it? It's a Chinese myth, and Chinese players love when Chinese myths are added to games. Have you seen the sales numbers of Total War: Three Kingdoms?

Ah yes they ONLY added Aladdin becuase of disney, ah yes they could have ONLY added Sun because of the Chinese. It's absolutely impossible they added these characters because theyre fairy tale characters. They game MUST be Eurocentric or its wrong, huh?

I mean, yeah, that's basically what I'm saying. Most average people probably didn't know about the Snow Queen figure before Frozen came out.
You see that sticky in Chinese with a link to Chinese social media? It's not for us.

I have to agree that Sun Wukong does not fit. Aladdin is from Arabian Nights which is the Arabian equivalent to Brother's Grim, he fits.

Sun Wukong is a god. It would be like having Zeus or Thor as a playable character. He doesn't fit the theme. Mulan would be a Chinese protagonist who does fit.

Sun Wukong is great! Stop being dramatic and enjoy the game kid :gaper:

It's kind of like racism. If I don't like a character, there is a crazy theory that will prove me right.
The monkey king exists in many games. It's a very popular character not only with the Chinese. Even the For Honor game has his counterpart.
No European would mistake this character for a random monkey in armor.

"Have you seen the sales numbers of Total War: Three Kingdoms?"
Wow, so it's all about the Chinese and not the fact that it's a very good game? Your hatred of the Chinese is ridiculous.

Goku is such a popular character, he's gotta be in every MOBA game.

It's racist that you'd even think to give a ♥♥♥♥ about this lol.

Wukong is arguably the most popular mythical character in China. Almost comparable to what Santa Claus is to American children. Except Wukong isn't a fat dude who delivers presents, he's a badass who delivers pain with a cudgel that grows to whatever size he wants it to.

The Chinese faction in For Honor sucks, bro. Nobody liked that addition or any of the characters in it. Not a comparison I would use.
Ditto TW:3K, all the English reviews I remember when it came out said it was shallow and flashy but the Chinese reviews thought it was the coolest thing ever. Don't know what to tell you.

Honestly, Journey to the West is kind of comparable to the Thousand and One Nights, but for being a single novel rather than a collection of stories. But I very specifically agree with the other half of your assessment.
Hidebehind Nov 16, 2023 @ 10:07pm
Who cares how you feel about this faction? Why did you even write that? I'm talking about popularity, you're talking about your personal opinion.
This guy is just talking some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to justify hating a mythical character just because he's from China.

P.S. Does anyone know what conspiracy theory people who are afraid of the Chinese believe in?
