The XP gains feel too slow
Please note I'm referring to the XP you gain from a run (to increase the characters level permanently), not the XP in-game.
I mostly played this game on beta when only the first chapter was released, and I'm pretty sure I'd gain around 200XP per run. I played 2 "full" runs with my friend on 1.0 and lost to the final boss twice, we got ~250XP per run. Why is it so nerfed?
Went from 200 in 20 minutes to 250 in 60 minutes, the extras you get from events and stuff are too low, in fact it's way more efficient XP wise to die early in the run on purpose, that's kinda stupid.

yeah solo runs are less xp the multiplayer bumps it up almost double per run also chests give no xp and grimoire and quests and mini boss and tumour give xp

With a full run on Twilight and below, I usually get around 500-600 XP.

So you must not be completing your runs or taking a lot of feathers/tumors/optional bosses etc to bump the multipliers.

Played as 2, died to last boss. We don't clear everything but I find the XP gains pretty sad. I found a way to cheese and get 150xp in 3-4 minutes which is 10x faster than this crap, I guess you're not meant to play the game the normal way to progress.

You're supposed to beat the game to get maximum experience.

I beat the game with all characters on the first run on each characters, so I instantly hit rank 3 on all of them.

Yes this is the topic I made last few days about how the effort don't contribute proportionally to the exp.
Example, twilight run if you lose at act 2, you get like 240 exp.
Lose at very early act 1 around level 3 still has 100 exp

But if you continue the next 30 minutes gameplay fully complete the run. The exp maybe it's 350-400

Yeah finished a twilight run and got 400xp not even a level up feelsbad

Try a quick run twilight that lose before first boss.
You will surprise how much exp you get (in a good way) versus the investment time

Yah that's how I finished a rank up fast, it's just stupid how low the xp for completion is considering it's gonna take an hour vs 10 mins something is weird

The developer probably seriously fail their math, unless they saying out loud "this is intended proper balance calculated result".

Few months ago I always feel developers seriously lacking in mathematics education which resulting in them badly manage the difficulty exp penalty too during in a run

The problem is this xp system has been there from the start and I think it worked just fine with one chapter, now they need to tweak it

Okay but I can play normally and die as soon as I get level 3 and I get 100xp and it takes literally 5 minutes without even trying, I don't think you should gain 250 after 1hr because you lost to the final boss (which is already frustrating)

My guess is that, given there aren't so many characters, nor that much content overall, they decided to make progression slower than might feel comfortable for games of this kind. After all, if you get to level 6 character experience, there isn't much more to unlock for that character; and seeing as the trinkets seem to be fixed (not random), your ideal build will likely be set long before you get anywhere near level 6.

I'd expect them to add more unlocks to persistent / char. XP, as well as the mission XP (after level 8 / ultimate unlock, there is no need for mission XP). However, again, I'd prefer they dump characters: I'd rather a LoL / DotA roster and the ability / trinket / map / XP break-down we have now, than faster XP gain for no real purpose.

Yeah I feel the xp gain are deliberately low to slow it down as rank 9 is max and it's not that long to get it but it just ends up feeling unsatisfactory for consumer and it's not consumers fault they went full release with so little offerings.

Feels like a small team, small budget and no real plans. They got atleast 2 more characters hopefully but if no new maps or anything content wise not sure about the longevity of a clearly multiplayer game that has solo attached when it goes dead

no its just broken. you can start a run, do one objective, and abandon to get over 100 xp. its wayyyyy more xp per hour.
