Any progression between runs?
Does anything carry over or do you get upgrades between runs like gunfire reborn, hades etc? Or is each run a completely full reset?

You rank up characters, unlocking starter options and more upgrades during your runs, etc etc

so ... except from that there are no permanent upgrades?

I only played for 3 runs now, not sure. Get the game, check yourself every permanent stuff you keep, if it's not enough for you, refund.

You unlock new characters, new upgrades for your character (you chose 1 at the start and every time you level up), and new items.

No you do not get raw power, instead you unlock more upgrades that can show up during a run.

Finishing runs give xp to that character and ranking up unlocks more upgrades, aka after a few runs, an upgrade you’ve never seen before might be one of the choices given.

it works like curse of the dead gods u have to play and the more u play the better the things u can start with and use become better. like the red riding hood has 3 combo points but as u rank her up u can unlock things that giver her 5 which u can find in game as u play. every charecter starts the exact same regardless of rank or nightmare lvl. then when u lvl up or find relics and upgrades they will be newer and better

Horizontal progression, not vertical. While some upgrade unlocks might be better than the starters the progression is intended to give you more choice and ways to play, not raw power.

It's not a dealbreaker for me, but with no progression (or something like Hades' making the game easier) between runs, it may be prohibitive for older gamers like me who don't have great reflexes. Even with all the help they gave in Hades, I couldn't make it very far. This game seems a little easier in general than Hades, but even though I've improved somewhat, I get the feeling I may never progress past the first boss even in Normal.

Yeah im older myself ( 35 next month ) and can get the twitch reflexes for some things arnt always as sharp as when you were 20 lol...The games playable though with the random fresh start per run aspect of it. The thing i would say though is that the game does seem "harder" solo as it feels more designed for co-op type play in mind the way its built. I dont mind that but i am also more of a solo player in games and usually dont play with others so going at the game by yourself is a bit more daunting i feel seems like with some objectives or missions etc

Gents - we're all old farts! I'm similarly aged to both of you and would say that this game doesn't need nearly the same reflexes as say CotdG where you had to parry attacks.

That being said I think it is much harder than, say Hades, some of it is mechanical (right combos and use of skills), but the hardest thing by far is knowing whether you're using your time efficiently - and I think a lot of players are playing badly without even realising it.

The game is absolutely playable and enjoyable solo - I'm aiming for lvl 5 on all characters solo on nightmare 9. Look up a guy called OhDough on YT if you need some help.

Do we currently know what the max rank is for each character? Sorry for resurrecting this thread but seems like several knowledgeable people have replied here.

So in co-op on normal difficulty the game is very playable and beatable. Solo... its a lil tough for me personally. I'm old it is what it is.

i (mid 40s, lol) had a learning curve where i had to adapt to the concept of the open world progression in order to get decently levelled in time. Before i really understood this, i was way under dpsing and i thought i just sucked
