It's like hades, but easier. You need to die to unlock new abilities and power up.

Yeah straight up 1-1 copy then, no thanks.

Weird comparison point but I'd honestly say co-op MOBA. You've got a timed "match" in which you spawn at level 1, try to get as strong as you can within the time limit by hitting as many different map objectives as possible, and then see if you can win the boss fight. You've got a preset collection of characters, each of whom has their own specific abilities and upgrade paths.

It's closer to Hades than Diablo, but in all honesty it's really not as close to Hades as most folks are making it out to be. It feels like it shares much more with hero-based entities like Overwatch or LoL, just... co-op with an isometric camera angle.

If you think this is a copy of Hades then you might want to lay off whatever you are taking lol.

If you're broke, you better stay away, This is an early access game.

It's an entire campaign of an ARPG compressed into one sitting to fit the roguelite genre, or you could say it's just pure PVE moba match.

It's extremely promising. The combat is extremely polished and satisfying.

The gameplay itself is a cookie-cutter ARPG, but the game pans out slightly differently by being a roguelite. Now from a game design perspective roguelites are obviously the bottom of the barrel and every indie studio goes through their "roguelites R cool" phase. However this game doesn't really commit to either and instead becomes this incoherent amalgamation that is what I would consider the worst of either genre.

In ARPGs you at least have the promise of a plethora of loot and shiny trinkets and therewith a form of strategy, even if the gameplay is usually extremely bland. In Ravenswatch you play exactly like you would any ARPG: you run around shooting at mush of enemies that form no distinguishable threat, while the loot is replaced with slow burn meta progression. It's like saying "we want to confine the gameplay as to achieve better pacing" (which is a good philosophy in my opinion) but the gameplay itself is just... nothing. So you're left with one of the most unsatisfying combinations I've ever encountered.

If you like Hades then this is a really trashy version of it. If you like ARPGs then you better hate loot because there is practically none.

The game reminds me of Darksburg and Diablo.

Actually, if you look at the vast majority of the reviews, the major complaint is the lack of content this early on. Which, you know, it IS lean for EA but there's more coming. They tend to agree that the gameplay itself is solid though.

Definitely well worth keeping an eye on if the game interest you, at least! Can always snag it when it's got an update or two under its belt.

I would probably say this game is closer to Diablo than Hades, although there is some light meta progression. All the meta progression does is unlock new upgrades to see during a run, rather than give you a strictly beneficial edge. Although most (if not all) of the character's level 5 unlocks are quite spicy, you can reasonably beat your first ever run. (Let me reiterate: Meta progression just unlocks things, it does not make characters better by itself.) As for combat, although ravenswood has undoubtably some overlap with Hades, I think i would lean towards Diablo instead especially in 4-man groups!

There's not much of the Diablo grind, but if you are a fan of Diablo or Hades i'd say you should find the game to feel familiar and give it a shot. I think it's on sale right now, too.
Neither. As other people have pointed out, its closer to a Coop Moba than any of those options. You essentially start out at the rift, with a trader who can sell you items or upgrades. You rush around to various objectives to get buffs. The only difference is you're timed and at the end you fight a boss rather than deal with towers or pushing.

...and the fact this game is literally nothing like a moba at all. Don't forget that minor difference.

Mobas are drafting games and there's none of that here.
