Is the game actually good?
Tbh, I think a roguelike game should give you roughly the same amount of power each run.

This game fails in this spectacularly.

The first culprit is the shrine mechanic. When you max the meta progression you have 50% to have a shrine respawning, halving the chance each time.

So you actually can start with 1 or 4 ascension shard, and it's decided in the first 20 second of a run. Why should I play a run where I got only a single shard? And it's not fun restarting the runs over and over again. This is reflected to all shrines, but the ascension shard shrine is the more evident one, since you can't get extra of those shards in any other way.

Then there is the weapon upgrade. Again, since only a few stats matters, sometimes you loose 10+ level points, sometimes you get it at first. Considering that the first levels doesn't really matter, you may loose 10+ level points to get what you must get (because everything else doesn't matter) in epic/legendary upgrades. You want damage, projectile, cooldown reduction and bounces, for 9 out of 10 weapon it's the only thing that matters.

To fix this, I would change the shrine mechanic to give you a 100% respawn rate with a cooldown time. In this scenario, you always have a shrine to get but you have to choose which one because you don't have enough time to get everything. Or respawn could be fixed, 1 or 2 respawns, everytime, no rand.

For the stats, you either choose what is given or you spend 3pt to choose what you want.

There is simply too much bad randomness in the game. The good randomness is when you have to adapt to different scenarios (eg: you drop mostly lightning stuff, you have to build around it), the bad randomness is when sometimes you drop 100 items and sometimes 10

Edit: I'd like to add another point.
While the visual is great, how is anyone supposed to dodge when you can't see anything? Boss fights seems to be dps and tanking, because at the start I was able to actually see attacks but now I can't see the attacks and all I can do is moving around randomly. The graphics is really good, don't get me wrong, but it actually prevents any kind of skill based play in the long run.

I agree with the respawn rate of shrines. Unless i play on Vademecum of Vampires, only ever needs 1 ascension.. as that can solo carry. [Funnily enough, i reroll out of most projectiles on this one, as it only needs a few projectile rolls]

I do like how the stat reroll works tho.. as you get so much skill points at some point, i never really felt like i had to min/max a relic and usually only roll out of 1 specific stat.

Not to meantion the forced daily runs.
Of the vampire savior likes I've been enjoying it. It has it's faults but I don't feel it takes away from what's already there,

its not a roguelike game, its a survivor game

Roguelike games have no permanent progression, you good my dude? As for RNG, any game involved with it features run restarts until you get good rng or save scum. As for "i can't see" there is special slider to change visibility of visual effects to make them transparent.

And to answer main question - no, game actually is not good. Both rng and upgrades department are lacking. Poor enemy varietty. No coop. Only one song, atleast feels like one. Optimisation could be better. Nothing unique.

In the increasingly vast sea of games in this genre, this game is pretty high quality and quite good.

It's missing a little something in terms of RNG:satisfaction ratio, because most runs you can just build the exact same thing that works, and only you rely on your perm-progression unlocks to boost your power level. It feels a bit too easy to 'solve'.

in my short time playing. im suprised how many power sub systems are in play kinda addicting

True that, it's called rogue-lite. (Many people make a mistake on those two)

I've sunk a fair amount of time in this game and I can safely say that at the lowest chance i.e. 0 respawn for Ascension Crystal (AC) shrine in particular, it is still fair and balance. There are 2 end of spectrum where AC plays a huge role; when you're starting and dont have much in term of meta progression, and when you're really late game pushing for higher ragnarok levels.
You dont really need ACs unless you're planning on R.E.S.E.T.-ing your main weapon(s) to push the stat OR hoarding them for the bonus 3x from the enhancer.
