Relic Upgrading Stats

I've noticed when upgrading my relics (weapons), that there are seemingly random stats applied each time that I am able to re-roll for 1p. However, it seems like the *level* of stat applied are somewhat predetermined corresponding to relic level. For instance, currently, every relic I upgrade to level 9, has at least two gold, legendary stats (albeit applied randomly). But upon upgrading to level 10, all stats always revert to common across the board. I assume I'm missing something but it feels like I'm better off only upgrading my relics to level 9 and leaving them there. What's the deal with this?

The coloration only applies to the stat change you will get if you do the next level-up and are not indicative of the current stat's worth. When you level up a relic, ONLY the stats with the + sign at the head of the row ahead of the icon/text will change. Those with higher rarity colors change by more. By stopping at level 9 you aren't getting the last 2 very large/Legendary stat upgrades.

There's also a Yggdrasil upgrade to get a random rarity 3rd stat upgrade each level.
