Dealing no damage outta nowhere
Playing Rank C for several hours, and I am hitting an awkward wall here.

Let me explain : basically I can steamroll levels of a map quite nicely. I pick fights levels to level up my character and grow whatever stat I need.
All is fine BUT eventually one level will always have a steeeeeeep difficulty curve all of a sudden, changing minions into tanks that I can't take down anymore.

Is this a bug ?

It's known. Focus on def piercing/shredding armor/weapons and builds... that helps.

And also making sure to get the coward's sapphire to keep a time limit on all possible levels.

Thx for the advices !
How do I get or equip that sapphire ? Is it a levelup pick ? Or a talent ?

Coward's sapphire is a level/shop pick up. It puts a timer on all levels... other than the boss ones and a few special others. The opposite is fighter's ruby that let's us pass every level by number of horde killed.

Oh... also leaping boots... another level/shop pick up... if you're really frustrated and have leaping boots... sometimes skipping levels with the boots will trigger the damage drop. Easy enough to reload and not skip a level... see if the level that was skipped triggers it... or vice verse. If you didn't skip a level and it's triggered... skip what you can.

I found neither lately. Is it very RNG and meta dependant game. Not sure I can make it.
I'm stuck at C Rank necromancer. Dud pulls a ton of damage in his last phase, and minions are really tankish.
I did pick as much armor piercing as possible while upgrading my weapons and defense as well, but it's still not enough.

You're running a challenge or is that on a straight play through?

Do you have a couple knights amulets or trainer's gloves? those are special gear that can be found in the guides... We get them from completing the early on challenges. Both can help speed up a build to establish a Rog... then limit your weapons down to 3 or whatever works to focus more on healing/health / anything else other than leveled weapons.

The regular playthrough (in quickmode), not challenge

Thanks
I just didn't think I'd need a "guide" for that kind of game. I hope this thread helps other players.

So E rank broken weapon will give trainers... and that helps max out your main chosen weapon earlier.

D rank... dual weilding gives the knight's amulet... which are all pretty random. you can equip two of em at the start of a game, that gives you those weapons... then switch to your playing gear as soon as you enter a level... the boost from trainers gloves and the extra weapons from the knights amulets will stay.

If you don't get what you want from the knight amulet on dual weilding, it's best to run it until you get something you like.

I find death aura as my main with trainers boost useful... then I add katana and the purple scythe one cause they got decent def / pierce return.

If you choose that method... the nice thing about death aura is say you're getting your ass kicked by that necro... In the last round as you go into it the special skill of death aura is making it expand really wide... so engage that... mine's a down click on the joystick... and that alone can give some room to breathe.

Yeah... it's more... a helpful hints bit. All that info can be found in game... but it's good to have the reminder when/if you're stuck cause the game is fun once you start being able to build up the gear set. And I personally love how dash works in RG... along with a lot of other things where it would break other games but doesn't break this one just using what we're given.

I'll try doing those challenges and see how things goes
