Rogue: Genesia
Do you have to dodge every second or two in this game?
I have kept myself from buying this game, I cant stand a game where I have to spam the dodge button every second or two... (yes this is a ME thing) :vsskull:

you can go cp2077 sandevistan style, more effective than dodging
also it makes you invulnerable
No, this isn't a lame Souls-Like.

Once you get your damage up high enough you often don't even have to move most of the time, things simply die before they get close to you.
There's lots of options. The dash is pretty intuitive but there's also an anachronistic mode we can enter where everything moves slower and the avatar moves generally faster. That's a blend between the normal pace and a dash.

Otherwise there's a hundred different builds to try out. R:G is one of my favorite games 4 years running and it's got a lot of content in the last few months to hit that 1.0 mark with UI QoL improvements.

And Plexus, the dev, is very responsive and active about improving his project even with a very small but efficient team.

If you like the genre, R:G is top tier.

There's no need to uses dodges or even move if you get the right cards etc.

Invest in movement speed, you"ll be able to spend less time dodging that way (by out manoeuvring enemies)

so what you guys are saying yes the dodge mechanic is a thing and is needed to be pressed alot, well thanks for the info, im prob going to get it anyway.
It's not really needed. But it is fun. The game is well paced. And there are a bunch of different difficulty controls.

Some of the challenges probably *need* it, but you can go without it most of the time.

There's another mechanic that also uses dash charges you can focus on instead once you unlock it, there's a card called Evasion that uses up dash charges to cancel out taking damage, etc. So you can even succeed by building into dodge for a run without ever actually pushing dodge.

of the 7 replies before your summation, 6 had essentially said 'no, you barely need to dash/dodge' and S'bass described the Anachronistic mechanic, that uses the same pool as dash, but isn't a dodge or dash. I notice that they didn't mention that Anachronistic is a toggle. Activate it and either use until the charge runs out, or hit the button again to turn it off.

So just gonna pile on here with:
No, dodging isn't an integral part of the combat. Yes, there is a dash, mostly used for repositioning and pushing through walls of mobs. The same charges used for dashing can also be used for a mode that slows down enemies and enemy projectiles. I rarely use Anachronistic, and mostly just dash to collect experience pips/gold.

Not every 2 seconds, as you can build to be almost invincible without much effort or sacrificing your damage that much. Some bosses shoot projectile barrages that you should move out of / dash through. The game is extremely easy and allows you to scale infinitely for the most part.

I did encounter some weird stuff I never figured out though. Like, I've built 100s of thousands of HP, maxed defenses characters and when I'd just stop and get hit by everything, I'd be invincible for a while, but there's always something that suddenly starts damaging me out of nowhere. Elite mob that debuffs defense maybe? No clue. Stood there for 30 seconds, HP bar doesn't move, and then boom it does.

i (almost) literally never dash in non-challenge runs.
