Vastly outscaling the enemies is an issue
I took the liberty of farming the final boss levels without triggering the altars on C tier and ended up scaling so strongly, that I hardly even saw an enemy on the final stage.
The final boss lost his HP in an instant until the immunity gave it a break.
I think this game needs either dynamic scaling or some way to limit farming levels on the final stages, it breaks the progression to a point where I started watching YouTube because it was not necessary to play attention to the screen apart from picking cards and selecting the next arena.
Also maybe the Arcanist's Staff needs a nerf, together with 30.000% (30k) armor shredding, it was the main culprit.

With no soul upgrades? if you're looking to challenge yourself more simply refund all soul upgrades if you haven't.

Then why have progression in the game.
Upgrades need to scale with difficutly.

yes, the game is made too easy, on purpose.
this makes the game to be rather bad now :(

the "main" game is intentionally easy for accesbility, but that why challenge are there and the main focus of the game for most players.

I dare anyone to call the hardmode challenges "easy"

Yeah, there's plenty of challenge to be had. The regular progression is fine, on par with most other Vampire Survivor type of games, but the challenges are quite unique, they really change up the way you play, and while not all are THAT difficult, some are (going from C and up).

And you can always drag the Corruption slider to 500 to get a rough start.

The game has scaling, though. Descent Into Hell, Fernanda's Scaling Hell, Endurance of Vild, Dwindling Fire and Cooled Steel all scale indefinitely, as far as you can go.

Sometimes you get an amazing run.
There's absolutely no reason to think the game is designed to be Touhou. :P
This is a Bullet-Heaven.

You're supposed to get silly overpowered.
