Those are great choices generally, and shuriken often is the star of the show (highest body count)... probably in part because it targets weak creatures. Magic wand homes on its targets, which is great.

I like bow (aims at closest) and crossbow (aims at strongest). Katana punches hard nearby and has two nice evolutions (and if you do it right you can get both). Wisp... effective, not a big fan here because it leaves so many void gems way out of the way.

Really not a fan of the directed weapons (spear, shaman's staff, etc.)
i dont like the directed weapons either. magic wand plus range is great though

Shuriken, Thorns, the big sword that cleaves... i generally prefer the weapons that do what i expect them to do, when i expect them to do them.

how does thorns work again? doesn't it only do damage when you get hit? because in D rank sometimes getting hit means you die. at least that's been my experience. sage leaf saved me on my D rank clear.

Crossbow is by far the best weapon when you get +2 projectiles from the shop, +4 tainted card levels at once (hello cardio) and the ability that applies fire dots (soul fire? can't remember the name), you really don't need anything else, since it pierces

forgot to say, with +4 tainted you also get a lot of pickup raidus (i usually run with +20-24) so you get everything without moving

Thorns is affected by crit, crit damage, attack speed and everything affecting projectiles (since when you get hit you fire 8 projectiles or more if upgraded), so it's actually a good skill with katana, and you don't even need much pickup radius. It also grants you damage mitigation.

Pike + Fractal. Thank me later
Also Swordrang, totally underrated. Massive damage for a weapon with no evo

I usually trade that out, so I practically have to stand on things to pick them up. Once you've got enough DakkaPS and zoomies the biggest problem is seeing the magnets, actually getting it usually isn't a challenge. Only on the fastest levels do I not get almost all the XP and almost all the gold.

That's me, though. I've completed the stationary challenge and having big pickup radius does have merit. I just got out of the habit, I'll give it a try. It'll also help with food, where void spirit and void magnets don't.

I'm coming around... the void spirit is "only two cards" and gets all the XP, but I'm finding that maximizing pull range is really simplifying things. I still get almost all the XP, but I'm picking up more gold (if I ignore void magnets) and a lot more food (which void magnets don't touch). It's also a fair bit easier to build up than it is to pick up two void spirits. Easier play altogether, I think.

What is the trick behind getting both evolved katanas? not that its needed with how op silphs blade can get but still.

It takes a bit of planning and luck (or rerolls), but qualify for both and then go into a shop or the forge and see both present for sale (or one present for sale and pick the other up via 'Card Selection').

Basically the same trick as getting level 9 weapons (via limit break or Corrupted Core).

I was also using void spirit but not only it is kinda rare and not always available (while tainted cards are common) but i was, as you said, missing out all the gold dropped, and getting food from 24m while the crossbow keeps opening the crates is very useful

thunder staff with mods....
weapons goes saturn mode :), it looks so cool

I've come to like many of them. Looking past the evolved weapons. I think my favorite is shuriken, even though the crossbow fares better. Thunder staff has become a favorite because of the fun factor. It pairs really well with Katana (and fractal). Storming into a bunch of enemies and decimating them feels good.

My least favorite is probably Kunai it's always outclassed and doesn't do much on its own... well it doesn't do much period.
