Do I have to go through that area to get farther?
Nice attempt.
Yeah, you have to go through the tank bunker track and beat Father to open more of the map to progress.
Thankfully, the tank bunker track isn't a time trial or race. You can take it slow and steady if the controls are giving you grief.
I gave up on the RC car in that boss fight, was an awful time using it. Fight was 100times easier without the car.
There is a similar car track acorn later in the game and that's exactly how I beat it, by using that skin and just walk through the track.
If you're stuck on the track on the first pass, unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it other than just taking it slow and practice. On mouse and keyboard, you can hold down right mouse click to lock the car speed, then just worry about steering left and right.
I do agree that making that track section a requirement is a questionable design decision though given what this game is about. I bought this game for funny squirrel gunning down people, not to play Rainbow Road on hard difficulty.
The Speed of the car affects how you move, Control problems are all on the user.
At first I was like IMMA ALT F4, Holding down right mouse allows for fine speed adjust then you can turn correctly, sharp turns at 200+ will have consequences.
