Anyone else having problems launching the game through Steam?

So far today, I have not been able to launch DDO through Steam. The game loads up, checking the files and all that on the pop up log in window, and then it just shuts down for no reason. Steam reverts back to "Play" on the game page.

I assumed that it was due to the maintenance.

I've already uninstalled and re-installed the game once today. I reinstalled since Steam won't let me verify the games files.

One error I get is "Error occurred while writing to [prereq_Installer_1.exe], update failed.

I have never received that error before.

The DDO installer says that an update error has occurred.

As such, I am left unable to play the game.

EDIT:

Well, I fixed the problem, after uninstalling and reinstalling the game twice over.

I guessed that it had to be a problem at my end, considering that there were over 300 people in game, which is a lot considering that it's on Steam. I guess that might have something to do with the Vecna Unleashed content that is up for preorder.

I installed DDO onto my main windows drive C: drive instead of my D: drive.

It seems odd that the game will ONLY run on the main OS disk?

I can't say that I have encountered this issue before, which is all the more confusing since every other game installed onto my D: drive, as far as I am aware, functions normally. Maybe it is just due to the age of the game?

No idea why that would be problematic.

There were many people on the official forums and Discord reporting issues similar sounding to this after the recent patching/store updates. Cordovan posted that they changed some things which should resolve the issue. If it pops up again or you get a waiting in line to connect message in the launcher, the first thing i'd recommend trying is flushing your DNS cache while DDO and its launcher are closed because it's quicker than reinstalling. Also, simply restarting the launcher and logging in a handful of times, to let it try more, might do the trick.
