For the life of me, how do I get the Kobold's treasure in Bucher's Path?
NGL. I went in with so many different characters, and I still cannot get the stupid treasure. Where is it, and what stats do I need to get it?

You can use item buffs and use Hirelings that have got higher strength or dexterity or wisdom or Intelligence.

Especially Wizard Palesmaster , Artificer with Dog and Hireling combination will let you complete quests that requires more than a single player to complete specific objectives.

Eg: Wizard template :

You have got 12 str (also item bonuses. To carry more loot and to avoid Helplessness at any character created) 18 Int , 14-16 cons at the start.

Summon a Cleric or Favored soul hireling to activate certain levers. You need to summon these at the start of the map and be sure they stay safe. You can wait till the end if the lever, pressure plate is on an optinal route.

Your Skeleton will also have extra Strength required.

or Druid with Wolf companion and summoning Intelligence based Hireling.

This works for standing on more than a single pressure plate to activate trap gates and more.

You can also try summons or charming npcs for pressure plates but they cant activate levers but only stand on pressure plate type.

I haven't gone for that in a long enough time; my memory is foggy.
That's when DDOWiki comes in handy. On the Quest page for Walk the Butcher's Path, you can find this:

"To find the Kobold's Hidden Treasure, you must pull a lever requiring an 18 STR, and use a rune requiring 18 INT. These are behind gates opened by a valve behind the second hidden door; the hidden treasure itself is in an alcove just beyond. It's also locked, so you'll need Open Lock to get the treasure." The door hiding the chest is not a 'secret door' in that Search and/or True Seeing won't find it. It simply opens when you've hit the lever and valve.

Part of the Wiki quote isn't as clear as it could be.
I went there with my own toon to verify everything.. and it didn't give me the "(Optional) Find the Kobolds' hidden treasure" objective.. until I went back and searched for the two secret doors that lead to the Ogre (previous corner). I did not realize that was a prereq, nor is the Wiki quote particularly clear on that detail. And you have to actually hit at least one of the valves that opens the Ogre door for the barred gates in front of the Int Rune and Str lever to rise and make it possible to access them. Which means the ability to find secret doors is also a prereq to get this optional objective.

It's rare for a single, low-level toon to have both 18 Str & 18 Int (even with tomes). Adding the requirement for the ability to Open Locks (or Knock) and the ability to find secret doors means it usually requires two people (or a person and a hire). NOTE: There exist wands of Detect Secret doors (purchasable in the Market) if you otherwise lack this ability.

An Int-based Rogue or Caster (Wizard or Alchemist) with either 18 native Int or gear, potion or spell of Fox's Cunning (or Alchemist equivalent) will get the rune. A Rogue, Wiz/Sorc Knock spell or Alchemist Melt Lock spell will open the chest. Pick up a Fighter or Barbarian hireling to pull the lever (or Wizard Skeletal Knight), and you'll cover all the requirements.

That being said, aside from the satisfaction of having done it, it's not worth the time nor effort. The chest is full of level-appropriate trash loot of no particular value and the XP for the opt isn't adequate to pay for the time invesment.

Anytime you have a quest question; DDOwiki is the place to go. Just google DDO and the quest name and you'll find what you need.

As to that treasure, if you're running pure solo odds are you won't get it because of the 2 stat requirements.

Usually I come with lock-picking and trap disabling skills. I should be able to just have a hired warrior with high strength to take on the other aspect.

True, that's why I said Pure Solo as in no hirelings. Honestly that chest isn't worth the cost of a hireling.

That chest isn't worth the time investment to get to it, even if you have all the prereqs covered. Still.. everybody wants to do it once....

This. I actually have a character that almost could as it is. Just get a few certain bonuses and I could do it.
