DDO Register username error

Umm.... What? I can't register at all because no matter what username I put in the field, after I press "Begin My Adventure" or "Next", that username error box pops up next to the input field and makes me cry. Anyone got any solutions or anything to contribute? I'm sure I'm not the only one having this problem.

Is it the "This name already in use" (or equivalent) error? Or some other?

Problem is, DDO's been around a long time and doesn't release usernames, so a lot have been used. Try making something idiotic (all consonants, for example) and see if that works. If it does, delete the toon and keep trying till you get one you like.

Something to keep in mind with the fantasy name generation sites is that they all have been used extensively by other DDO players for years. Even the Drow name generator has been gone through pretty thoroughly. You could try blackspeech dictionary sites, along with Orcish name sites since Orcs haven't been in the game for as long as the other races, and are not all that popular, so the names aren't all taken.

Do note: OP is saying USERNAME, not character name, and is talking about registration.

Of course, OP hasn't responded back, and OP could be confusing terms =P

OP is confusing the terms. Note that he states clicking the "Begin my adventure" or "Next" button. Those would be what you hit after chargen. :D

Oh, you know a game's been out a long time when you can't even use any of your login aliases haha.
That's how I ended up using obscure D&D creatures and German names for banned drugs as login names over the decades... because everywhere I try to register, some commie has stolen my trademarked "Mr. Dave" name I've been going by IRL since 4th grade. :D

Considering the pages have changed and such, most people here that would answer the original question... signed up back under a completely different manner. Plus, loginnames tend to be hella weird, so conflicts are never complained : no one is to KNOW your username, so Johnny323 is taken? Fine. SirJohnny323. Isn't like you're going to be seen by others as that*. Now, couple in that turbine's 'next/begin' thing matches up what we see in-game when we're creating/login in...

...no wonder our brains autocorrected the question to the one we expected :P
"No, no, that couldn't be what was asked. They really meant this".
