Graphics
What is the highest level of graphics for this game? Is it just the old ultra high or is there something else to make the graphics look better than they currently are?

Yes, I realise its an old game. I played it on launch and I remember that it looked fkn awesome back then, but then that was many years ago now.

You can set it to custom and turn up individual settings, but it's probably not going to look too much different from the ultra high preset.

It's an amazing looking game considering it was released 18 years ago (admittedly with graphical enhancements made a few times over the years), but it's still quite an old game.

Some areas of the game look better than others though, they've not really improved some of the earlier areas in the game for a long long time, but the newer areas like the Mists of Ravenloft can be very pretty.

It might be of note that if you don't have the DirectX 11 distributable installed on your computer, then the game does (or used to at least) default back to DirectX 9, which does look worse.
(It will only have DirectX 9 selected in the dropdown in the graphics settings if this is the case)

If you have Nvidia card you can change some settings in Nvidia control Panel. One of them is to upscale resolution then it would fit it to your monitors highest.

Nevertheless this games graphics has not been updated alot, it looks like games from the mid 00's.

One of the worst things with this game is some of the character models - while som are ugly others are weird, like newer ones with a totally smooth face like glass.

Even though this game has dated graphics you might get used to it and play it for the setting/gameplay.

The graphic performance in this game is really not that incredible either.

One of the worst things with this game imo is that you can't port to Krynn.
