True Sight not working
I have true sight from the falconry tree. It stopped working a while ago, I wasn't sure until now but my hireling was feeling drafts here and there, me not seeing anything. This morning I tried to do a quest in Ravenloft castle, i know there are a good dozen secret doors, not able to see one. Hireling feels the draft, me blind as a mole.
Any idea why that would be? I effectively cannot complete the quest without seeing those doors.

According to the wiki True Seeing only lets you auto detect secret doors that have a Search DC of 30 or less.
Did you try using a True Seeing scroll (while the item in unequipped)?

So that would not work on Legendary difficulty I suppose with the skill check likely to be above 30. It is not an item, it is from the enhancement tree, I will reset the tree and avoid taking the skill then. See how it goes.

Thanks Palumbra!

Yep. There's a DC limit. That doesn't make True Seeing useless; it does a lot more than just find secret doors. But it stops finding those long before Legendary levels.

Detect Secret Doors actually has a higher detection limit for pure casters. But it also caps out at DC 44 for a pure 20 caster at level 32. Meaning cross-class points in search, a +skill item, and taking 20 to search is more useful at Legendary than either detection spell as long as you break past 45 points modified worth of the skill.

Knock runs into similar limitations. Spells don't scale as well as Skills into higher levels and difficulties. At the very least, they don't get the benefits of gear and the like.

sometimes you need a real rogue, you cant expect to find every secret door in the game well unless you buy the store item.. that finds everything for a price.

There's a Store item that finds secret doors?

Wow, that's a lot of negative attitude for a simple question.

As it happens, I did my search in the actual in-game Store. Turns out the DDOWiki article is misleading. The Store item (yes there is one.. and available in packs of 10 as well) has a 5 min duration.

Never completely trust your search engine results... nor DDOWiki.

Note: Even the listing in the Store could be wrong and the actual item could be different yet again. I wasn't going to buy one to verify the Store description. But at least that is from the actual game and current.
