Torch or light spell?
Is there a torch you can buy or a light spell you can use?

AFAIK there is only one quest with total darkness, Rainbow in the Dark. And light source is provided. Adjust brightness.

You're going to have to play with your contrast and brightness settings. Most of the older content I don't have any problems with, but the newer stuff I do find I have to fiddle with the settings to get a comfortable view.

**** Torch or light spell would be cool through. Even the 'personal light' feature LotRO has would be nice just so you don't have to fiddle with your settings.

There is also underdark, with correct settings you can see there, but if your brightness is not properly set, it can be pretty... dark... (sorry)

There's no headwear with the light effect? Like in NWN?

There's no real light you can carry. There ARE some spells that will provide illumination, but not many. People learn in Rainbow in the Dark, that an Otto's Irresistible Dance spell illuminates the area in which it's cast, for example. But nothing generally useful. Like others have said, you'll have to adjust settings.

There isn't really a need for it, as most areas are sufficiently lit, and there are torches placed even in the mines and caves. Some areas and quests are deliberately too dark, like the Underdark, but that has the Undersun Googles for it (note that it only works in the Underdark).

You can adjust the Gamma to an extent in the Graphics settings.
