- If your DDO client is stuck while patching on a .dat or .datx =
1 Navigate to your DDO installation folder .
2 Delete all files in this folder with a dat or datx file type. They will all end in .dat or .datx
3 Restart the DDO launcher and the application should repair itself."
deleted the game after i seen the paywall it requires an the subsription for VIP
link provided homies
Looks like i have to use the "Repair" option and download the whole bloody game. What the heck have they changed in this damn update that broke the game launcher?
Edit: But this can depend perhaps on OS UI settings.
I'll just give the Repair option a go tonight, can't get any worse then it is right now...
What OS?
Are you getting any error messages?
Have you tried other things than what you’ve already posted? If so, what?
You mentioned the update. Why? Did you have the game installed before and working?
- applying 3154 forward iterations
- downloading file 1 of 3010 (xyz bytes / zyx bytes)
game launcher freezes, while it looks like it still is downloading something, rinse and repeat when i restart the game launcher after it stops downloading.
Win10
no, not a single error message is showing, the game launcher freezes, and the downloading simply stops at some point later
restarting Steam, restarting PC
yes, i could play (and of course update...) just fine before the 15th anniversary update
today is another update incoming, may be that will shake something lose...
It’s...possible.
I have some things for you to try at the bottom of this.
This is a difficult problem because I have no way to see what’s going wrong when the launcher gets to that file.
Right now, it’s sounding to me like the problem is DNS related. It seems likely to me that it’s a complex issue not necessarily even related to the update or that file specifically, other than the fact that the something seems to be going wrong at that step in the launcher. I was going to add more steps due to the potential complexity and not knowing the cause.
But that would take considerably more time than I can tonight, might not be fruitful, and it’s possible it could resolve itself in time as you’ve suggested so for now I’ll just post something simple:
1. Flush your DNS. You can find how to do this for Windows 10 by searching online. It’s quick and easy to do.
2. In between step 3 below, while that stuff is shutdown, restart your computer.
3. Do a shutdown and restart of all internet hardware, ie. modem and router that you use to connect your computer to the internet. By that, I mean a full shutdown. Turn off the power to it or AND unplug it.
I allready tried the DNS flush, PC and modem restart, and it's still the same... besides, why do i have to jump through all these hoops suddenly, when it ran just fine before?
What really bothers me is, after they had their big Covid-19 promotion, i bought a good amount of points for classes/races to support the game, and i'm now locked out of it.
Bloody 15th anniversary update...
- Many problems with the game stem from poor or faulty Network connection between your computer and the game servers near Boston, MA, USA. Read the sticky thread on the official forum, "Troubleshooting Connection Issues", "Understanding Lag" and "Game Connection Speed"

- DDO uses Akamai Content Delivery Network still so that could be a problem that you need to allow Akamai to work. Even Updating the launcher calls to Akamai.
