I’ve never been big into Star Trek, though I did see at least several episodes with him. Not sure why people would hate him :/ Why do you?
He was part of the PAX Tabletop DnD, which was widely regarded to be exceptional. The DM basically punished him for being more experienced, than the other players. IMHO that translates perfectly to DDO especially considering it’s history with elitists.
I don’t know Wheaton personally. However; whatever flaws Wil may have, he seems to be a really good sport about it; which I’d wager is probably why the DM was hard on him. It made for a good show. And frankly it’s completely arguable objectively that his history growing up alongside DnD adds more to the game than the other voice actors.
If you don’t like his voice, well you really don’t have to listen to it, you can just mute the DM audio while you do the Temple.
his actual acting skills are also, non existent. anyone hiring him is literally wasting money, because you can get a much better actor for less at pretty much any community college. voice acting even more so, since you can hop on newgrounds and find plenty of top quality VA's who will do whatever job for next to nothing. also, its D&D not DnD. DnD is the guys who made GoT
I don’t need to look lol. It’s an ad for The Temple of Elemental Evil. It’s broken into two quests in DDO. It’s factually less than 1% of the game’s quest content, and it’s skippable. That’s a big presumptuous leap you’ve made thinking that the composition of the ad must reflect the same percentage of the whole product.
Most games don’t have features like DDO either where the DM audio has its own volume control. Additionally, there’s text for the voice overs, so not only can you mute it, but you can read it, so you won’t miss out on anything. It’s unobtrusive. You seem to be completely ignoring/dismissing that I’m giving you solutions.
This makes it look like you’re doing something close to what you’re accusing Wil’s Star Trek character of, a character he didn’t write. But whatever don’t like him if you want. You don’t even have to do the 2 quests he DM’s for.
I’m fully aware of how many talented actors go unnoticed. However your point about talent is moot considering it’s common knowledge that not all famous professional actors are the best of the best. Furthermore we’re talking about DM’ing. There’s exactly no part of DnD that says you have to be exceptional at anything in order to DM. If anything it’s the opposite.
Wil even states in one of the voice overs something along the lines of how DnD helped him improve himself. If you think a game that’s rooted in sitting down with people and enjoying their individuality; flawed or otherwise, is a means for you to exclude people, then I do say you’re missing much of the point.
Also, Wizards of the Coast uses both D&D and DnD. If you’re not going to even make an argument as to why I should bother hitting extra buttons then: DnD, DnD, DnD :P
Lol anyway if you’re here because you’re actually interested in DDO then don’t worry, like I said you don’t even need those 2 quests. Wil isn’t going to stalk your parties with his character in-game just to make you listen to him...at least there’s no reason to think he would do that.
i am now blocking you because you refuse to abreviate dungeons and dragons correctly. please learn basic english, as N is not ampersand. edit: and no. DnD has never been used in any opfficial capacity. its purely a lazy fan thing.
<shrug>
Don't play then. Based on the attitudes you've displayed here (which are, imo, the antithesis of the ones D&D is based on), we won't be missing out on anything.
Also, where do you get off being the abbreviation police? It's not even a word, it's the abbreviation of the name of a game and you're willing to block based on it?
Please, please, please don't play DDO.
You complained about THE GAME featuring Wil Wheaton in the OP. That’s what you chose to make the thread topic. So, no I didn’t make anything up. It’s clear you weren’t aware how little of DDO he’s actually a part of (the only other possible explanation is that you just came here trying to cause problems). Your mistake. So no, you’re not getting away with now pretending you were only talking about the ad. The ad isn’t what or who hired Mr. Wil Wheaton. BIG NO.
I also had already explained the ad to you in my first post. He was at PAX, it was really popular, so then they featured him in a DDO quest pack. What that also means is that you’re wrong about him being, “almost universally hated.” His Star Trek character, maybe. But Whil? Nope.
Also, https://dnd.wizards.com/ Is an example of “dnd” being used in an official capacity. So there you go being incorrect again.
But I’ll humor you and make believe that no one from WotC has ever in their life used “n” in place of “and” ever. It would still be correct for me to use n because it’s an abbreviation and you clearly understand what it’s an abbreviation of. Therefore, it’s the English language. That’s how it works. You whining about it doesn’t make it not so. This isn’t a middle school English paper with rules that don’t reflect on or apply to how people use English to communicate online.
Whatever you’re doing here. I really recommend you stop making so many assumptions and stop being so rude. It won’t fly here with DnD players. And if you want to seriously keep acting like a rules lawyer, you’ve made plenty of errors as well as being in violation of Steam Discussion rules and guidelines.
I could’ve simply reported your topic. I didn’t need to be nice to you and answer it as well as provide you several options for your personal issue.
And while I too think he was just an annoying kid on ST, I enjoyed the episodes on Big Bang Theory that had him in it and thought he fit the role quite well there.
2. This guy blocks anyone who disagrees with him and also has to tell them he blocked them
3. You are crying about a char from a TV show from the 80's
I actually pity you, your life must be very sad.
The groups this guy is in explains his life perfectly!
