Dungeons & Dragons Online®

Cannot update
I know other people have had this same problem, and this is just another thread of the same thing, but I had installed and played this game a few times already. Now it has an update and it just keep crashing the client when it tries to update. I have become cross eyed trying to read the plethora of other threads with connection issues, all leading to posts from 2006 talking about dial up speeds. I need some clear, concise information that is relevant to today, 2020, on how to fix this issue.

Edit: I tried the launcher again after writing the above, and instead of crashing it errors out, but stays open. It keeps retrying over and over, and each time it errors I get a different message.
Examples : "Unknown error: 0xffffffff80043038" and this one said above it in yellow "Done applying patch(s). 50384 total bytes downloaded"

- Try the Repair option in the DDO game launcher. Look in the Options Menu, on the Repair Tab. Then click the Repair button.

- If your game client not running on Windows 10, try: Loading C++ 2005 and .Net Framework 1.1 from Microsoft website. They're no longer auto-installed by Windows Update on the latest Windows versions. Look in the DDO directory for the 3rdParty folder and run all the .exes you find there while the game is Not running and under Admin rights account.

- If you are having problems with first installing DDO from Steam, go to the DDO dot com website and download it there.
Download the DDO Installer here > http://www.ddo.com/en/game/download

- If your game client not running, Try: just uninstall, delete any leftover folders and then reinstall fresh. There is a file CleanUninstall.exe in the DDO folder, run that to uninstall.

- Try using DX 10 or DX 9 if you are having problems with DX 11. Might have to install DX 10, 9 and 11 on a new Windows 10 OS load.

- Make sure your Firewall and active defending anti-malware programs have DDO exe files in exceptions.

- Make sure your are loading the game and running game under account with admin rights.

- Many problems with the game stem from poor or faulty Network connection between your computer and the game servers near Boston, MA, USA. Read the sticky thread on the official forum, "Troubleshooting Connection Issues", "Understanding Lag" and "Game Connection Speed"

- DDO uses Akamai Content Delivery Network still so that could be a problem that you need to allow Akamai to work. Even Updating the launcher calls to Akamai.

Having the same problem. It stops at 30% downloading the new dnd_awesome file. Can someone upload it so the patcher stops freaking out?

Getting the same error. I'm not sure I want to redownload 13 gigs on the "Repair" option if that's not going to fix it....
