Im running DDO on a 40 inch UHD display at 2560x1440 resolution, everything is fine.
At 3840x2160 icons and menu are too small, too.
Alternativ use "Losless Scaling", available here on Steam, run DDO at 1920x1080 windowed, and quadruple the resolution, thats a little bit bigger than 2560x1440.
I changed resolution to clasic HD 1920x1440, now i can read menu. But its bsht this resolution ..
So my question is, is here some settings for bigger menu? (I know, in 2019 there wasn't this option).
I may be on the right path of figuring this out that someone might be able to complete it so the scaling is how we want it. Here is what I did that might lead to a team effort of resolving this so we can use 4k settings and still be able to read and navigate menus:
1. Navigate to the game folder that contains the exe files. Right-Click and select properties on the DNDLauncher.exe and TurbineLauncher.exe (has to be done separately, can't do it to both at the same time).
2. In the Compatibility tab "Change High DPI Settings". When that window opens click on the check box to fill in the check mark for "High DPI Scaling Override". I set the options to System (Enhanced). I'm not sure that matters and haven't tried the other options.
3. In windows Documents folder \Dungeons and Dragons Online open UserPreferences.ini
- In the Display section change "AllowDesktopCompositing" to False and save the file.
This allowed other resolutions than what I have my desktop set to to display correctly. It didn't fix the tiny windows, text, and navigation issue for 4k resolutions. There's another setting in the preferences file that says "FixedOutputScaling=Default". I think that's the setting we need but I haven't figured out what the other settings options for it are other than Default.
I've tried:
False = didn't make a difference. File was updated when I launched the game changing it back to Default.
System = Same as above. No difference, game reset it back to Default.
I'm done futzing around with it, at least for now. FixedOutputScaling= might accept Auto? Give it a shot. It seems that if the settings are given options that don't work the game changes it back to default.

didnt end up working
Microsoft Word would not launch. No Error was seen, no winword task in task manager, just Word would not launch (Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, etc all worked). Attempts to repair/uninstall via control panel would result in OSetup.dll errors. Attempts to re-install using original media also resulted in OSetup.dll errors.
All errors were fixed by removing this registry entry (word launched and all OSetup.dll errors launching the installer/uninstaller went away).
To be clear, I deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/SideBySide/PreferExternalManifest
I listed the whole key for Google since I got the clue from a post that said they deleted a DPI registry entry to fix the same error. That post didn't list the key but it reminded me of this post and my attempt to use this entry.
If anyone finds a way to fix this plz let me know.
DDO has been out 15 years. Being out a long time doesn’t have anything to do with being able to do 4k. Make sure to claim your 15th anniversary gifts if you haven’t.
Like the majority of gamers, I don’t play games in 4k so I’ve not had to troubleshoot this. But it seems to me, if you must play 4k, then the easiest solution right now would be to hook up a second display that’s a lower resolution screen. Then you can drag the menus or other ui pieces that don’t scale to the second screen.
I realize not every room setup is ideal for that, but it seems to me it could be a solid option until SSG releases an official 4k update to the UI.
As i recall, last time i tried to play this, some elements of the UI you could scale, others you couldn't. Does it work on everything?
