I also don't think there's a way to gift a sub to others.
What you can do is do the sub for you and then buy Guest Passes in game for the dungeons you want to run.
VIP will open all non-expansion quests for you yes, but as an alternate you can just buy the dungeon packs you want to run (like 3 Barrel Cove or Sharn Syndicate). Either way buying the right Guest Passes will allow your friends to quest in those dungeons for X amount of time.
Hmm.. all I see on the DDO Market are 2 month or 1 year game time codes:

@Doug, yes the 2 month and 1 year game time codes on the market, the 2 month one is the same price as a 3 month VIP sub... hence the reason for not wanting that. - I've not found any option to gift a VIP code.
@Doug - What is Premium, whats the difference, I thought it was the same thing.
@Taebrythn Hmm didn't think about paypal transfer, I take it they can buy the vip using paypal then (sorry not looked myself yet). I think that might be the better way to go :) Thanks.
yeah i suggested paypal simply because if you're friends aren't local this would be an ideal way of doing it. send them enough to get the 3 months and it would still be a gift and then they can purchase the 3 months themselves. its better then paying 30 bucks for 2 months or waiting for support to get back to you because i know they can help just they're slow as a sloth lately.
There are 3 account types: Free, Premium and VIP. Here's the link:

Some companies do only have 2: free or Premium/VIP, but SSG & Turbine before them set it up as 3.
Cool, thanks for the links, that explains it now :)
Checked the DDO Store ingame on the subscription page, after selecting a subscription and going to next page to pay it says at the top...
"Payment by steam" - so I guess it comes out of my steam account. so I could transfer the money to friends steam account (in theory) though I'm not sure how to do that yet..
Sorry. I usually only check in here about once per day. Premium is a middle ground between subscription (VIP) and pay nothing (F2P). It might best be described as purchasing 'a la carte' whatever features and adventures you like. The link NavFamG posted covers the details.
the only problem about premium is it can become way more expensive at first vs vip but in the long run if you play the game for a long time you never lose access to the content unless you lose your account for whatever reason or the game shuts down.
