I have exactly one problem playing on Win10. Can't Alt-Tab to the desktop. If any other application is running, I can switch to it, no problem. Can even use the calculator button on my keyboard to pop up the calculator and thus switch away from DDO. But a straight Alt-Tab to the desktop doesn't work for me on two separate computers.
Note: I don't play through Steam. It's possible the existence of the Steam Overlay might change this behavior.
Alt-F4 closes the current application. If all you want to do is check FB for a minute (because there are no groups posted at your level, for example), that's overkill.
Note that Ctrl-Esc (Task manager) and Ctrl-Alt-Del do work. I have no idea why Alt-Tab is problematic.
- Look in the DDO directory for the 3rdParty folder and run the dx9.exe you find there while the game launcher Not running and under Admin rights account.
- Here is link to Microsoft DirectX download page. >

Shouldn't be required, should it? I believe the later versions of Dx are backward compatible. I think Baapo is suggesting DDO won't run with the higher Dx settings, not that it won't run at all.
Not sure why some cards are glitchy on the Dx10/Dx11 settings. Nor exactly what the difference buys you. Mostly I'm just glad that they've made a setting that allows playing the game on cards that would otherwise fail.
It only does this on DDO, other games like dota 2 and overwatch i can run in dx 10 or 11
Windows 8 was the worst. Hands down. Windows 8 had terrible UI, had separate programs for every setting under the sun, and you had to go through hell and back to try and find any setting you were looking for.
