Will there be an update to 5E
I been wondering there a version with the fifth edition setup or rules? Maybe a more updated version of DnD online

Wizards of the Coast owns the IP to DND, so they are the one in control of future games using DND. DDO is set in Stone, you will not see any game updates set to new PNP rules.

While DDO is a better game if you want to play D&D, I think Neverwinter's last update changed it from 4E to 5th edition rules, but since the entire D&D 'thing' for Neverwinter is just the place names and a thin visual wash over a standard MMO I'm not sure what that entirely means.

They would have to change all the classes, monsters, spells, abilities, items and combat mechanics through the entire game. and as far as I know this game is quite big. I´ve played this game once years ago and I must say I also tried neverwinter, the latter is nothing like this game in showing the dnd ruleset and lore.

Neverwinter has the combat mechanics of some of those castlevania l-o-s 1 and 2 or let´s say maybe that when you play neverwinter it´s more simple with the skilltree, you have a few slots for action button maybe like 8. In DDO you have this vast talent tree and more hotbars than just 2.

Neverwinter is not such a bad game but theres more roleplay to ddo than neverwinter that seems to be just a game online.
