Tomes & Reincarnation

I noticed my DDO purchased Tome of Strength +3 stayed with me through my first TR. I plan on going for Completionist and Racial Completionist. Is it safe to use Tomes I find? Will they carry through TR as well?

I have a picture here; I'm wondering if the difference in the way the look matters as well?

Yes! There's no character benefit for waiting to use a tome. The only reason to save them is if it's one you loot from a chest then those are unbound and tradeable/auctionable, then maybe you'd prefer the coin and a get bound tome for yourself from a different way.

When you TR to level 1 you don't get the full bonus of +3 tomes or higher right away (it's the same if you use the tome at lvl1). Each +1 of the tome gets applied to your character automatically when your character gets to the level requirement for it. You can see which level each amount is applied on the wiki link here under the heading "minimum level"

So with that +3 Tome, when you TR you'll have +2 until you get to level 3 where the game allows you to have the +3.

As far as the different looks of ability tomes....all +3 strength tomes give your character a +3 tome bonus to Str.

However, there are uprade tomes for example, the +3 upgrade tome requires that you already have a +2 tome bonus on your character to use it. Otherwise the different looks are probably just because the devs added the tome to the game at a different time and used a different icon....that being said there might be some really old tomes out there that have a higher min level requirement than 1 on them, I'm not sure.

Skill tomes all look alike. Each Stat's tomes are a different color. ALL tomes persist through reincarnations of any kind (That includes stat, skill, xp, epic xp, fate, etc, etc.).

The top two are Stat tomes and thus each have a different color. The bottom three are skill tomes and all look alike. How does your image contradict my statement?

Just as an interesting aside; in my graveyard run end loot chest I scored a +1 Intelligence tome yesterday.

In theory, I think tomes can drop anywhere, like ioun stones. They're just horrifically rare.

I just wish you could find a use for a +1 tome (aside from converting it to crafting mats) when you already have a higher one. Like combining two +1s to make a +2 or something.

My problem is I'm sitting on a bunch of +2 one's I've gotten from daily rolls. Seems those show up more often than the +1 one's I need first!

My +1's seem to be coming from "Sunken Sewer" A level 2 dungeon. Haven't recorded what difficulty.

They're all upgrade tomes?

You can get a +2 tome for 1 stat each life that achieves 1750 total Favor. If you're F2P or Premium, that'll require purchase of an adventure pack or two, since the game only includes 1562 total Favor in F2P quests.

You can also get a +5 tome for 1 stat each life that achieves 5000 total Favor. Even VIPs might find it hard to reach that if they haven't bought any Expansions, though.

All the one's I'm sitting on now require me to use the initial +1 tomes, before I can use the +2's if that's what you mean.

I'm afraid that favor tome is a ways off for me. I just recently hit the Vet 1 level on favor.

Things just move so much more slowly when you're a total casual.
