Hey guys, here's a list of issues a few folks ran into, and their solutions. Hope it helps!


If anything prevents the game from running on your computer, please check here first c:

"Script 'Start Game' line 72: Errno::EEXIST occured...""
or
"Script 'Start Game' line 22: Errno::EINVAL occurred."

SOLUTION 1:
Import a little regedit file to fix the problem (thanks to 精灵使者):
Win7:

XP:

Please logout or restart computer to take effect.

SOLUTION 2:
Log into Windows using an alternate (or guest) account with a username that contains only a-z & 0-9 characters and launch the game with that Windows account.



"RGSS Has Stopped Working" on launch:
Enabling the DEP exception should fix it:

(The main game .exe to make exception for is located in the To the Moon main folder, called To the Moon.exe)


Black screen freeze on launch:
Right click To the Moon.exe in the game folder and run as admin. To get there, right click on To the Moon in the Steam library, go to Properties -> Local Files Tab, and open local folder.


Player character keeps on moving to one side of the screen involuntarily:
Fun solution: Press the keys on the number pad randomly.
If that doesn't work, replug input devices like mouse/keyboard/joypad, as it can be caused by phantom input signals.


ENOENT Error / No Such File or directory - C:\DOCUME~1\\APPLIC~1\To the Moon....:
The file directory generated from the Windows User Account has characters that wasn't able to be loaded. It's rare when this happens, but if it does, launching the game from another Windows User Account with just English alphabets & numbers as name (even a Guest account) should work. Sorry for the inconvenience!


black screen crash (possibly with sound still playing) upon start-up (Nvidia):
Turn off DSR in your Nvidia control panel.

I've hit a game-breaking bug for Memory 9.

Once I cross the second log, my player characters "clip" through everything. I can even walk straight into the sky. Because of this, I can't activate the rucksack to complete this memory.

I'd like to know how to proceed.

The game forces my screen to a low resolution when I launch, and never loads. The game is in windowed mode, and if I drag the window into my field of vision I see that the program is not responding. Any suggestions? I've done the DEP exception, and made the program run as admin, with no luck.

My game crashes when I get to the funny room. This also occured when I tried to use the wineskin port before it came out on mac, same place and everything. I am still running OS X 10.8.5, so that could be an issue

The only thing I am having a problem with is when choices show up on the screen like at the beginning of the game where you have to choose to Push the boulder, Find a stick or Call it a night, when that little window of options show up it gets extremely laggy and my mouse slowly moves across the screen. Nothing else to report though, just found that weird. I haven't had any similar problems with any other games, just this one thing so far.

Are you using EMET/Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit? It overrides all DEP settings you can make anywhere else in Windows. Therefore, if you are using it, you have to disable DEP there.

Problem: Xbox 360 wireless controller is not working.

Resolved by setting wireless controller as default device.
This can be set in Control Panel -> Printer/Devices -> Game Controller Settings (right click on your wireless controller) -> Advanced: set device as default

I'm having an issue when launching the game where I get an error that says Script Steam Achievements, runtime error occured. Any idea of how I can fix this? I'm running win xp.

The game exits for me as soon as it gives me the choice to start, load, or exit. No error message is displayed.

Was having the movement problem. Unplugging my webcam fixed it so I thought I would put it up here.

I have two versions of to the moon on my win7 laptop now and both don't work. Steam-version tries to open in full screen mode and freezes the computer on black screen. The other version gives the RGSS has stopped working after starting in windowed mode. Both exes are added to DEP exception, both games are started as admin.
