Peace
Except this is the only game that has ever caused it to go off for me and I use it on several PC's. Not to mention AVG doesn't eat my resources, give me several pop ups or anything. I know several other free ones do, but I've had zero issue with AVG.
Also, if a company put in a petition 3 years ago to remove the "false" positive and it's still there then it makes you wonder if there is something there. Sorry if you think it's being a negative nancy. It's called being safe when the developer can't either fix the issue causing the virus alert or convince anti-virus companies that it's not.
First of all, it confused me because AVG actually did remove the false positive 3 years ago; the problem is, that .exe was the one published on http://freebirdgames.com/to_the_moon/ (you can check with that if you'd like; the demo's the same file as the full version.) The game was not on Steam until a year later. The Steam version had to have extra integration with the client added, so it got re-flagged again as it was no longer the exact bit-by-bit file that was already reported back then.
I'll go get that AVG re-reporting thing handled when I get the chance. In the mean time, feel free to avoid the game, Aceso. While the way you said some of the things came off a little insulting, I definitely understand where you're coming from, and there's nothing wrong with taking precautions.
1. find the allow button
2. stop avg when you play this game
3. contact the developer to change it in a patch
4. stop using avg
5. not play this game anymore
6. contact avg to change their firewall settings
7. have fun at a party
8. enjoy homade chocholate chip cookies...mmmm
I'd probably pick the last one, but the first one sounds reasonable as well
Thank you for the response Reives. My intention wasn't for it to be insulting towards you or anything. It's just one of those things you can never been too safe. I've seen in the past on other things people go "it's a false positive your fine" then find out it wasn't. One of those better safe than sorry deals. I'd just rather not have to go through and reformat my PC again :P
Main reason I said I'd avoid telling my friends and stuff is because they are pretty much the same as me.
I was more or less aggravated at the people who said "Go use another AV". While it's an option it's not one that I'm interested in as I've had better luck with this one despite their claims.
As for the old one getting fixed three years ago that is my mistake as everything I found when searching showed it hadn't been fixed yet. This is why I was kind of irritated at the time.
