Can't Move Down or Right in To The Moon. Please Help!
OK, I was told to ask this here, so yeah..

So I haven't been able to play this 2D top down game, To The Moon at all since I got it, which was like, a year ago. Maybe. Anyway, while playing the game, I have no control. The game uses the arrow keys for movement, but they aren't working. The character either goes straight up or to the left, and I can only move the character up on my own. In the menu however, it's the exact opposite. I can't move left or up.

I've actually had this problem before. Twice, not including this time. In another steam game, RPG Maker (a program that lets you make top down 2D games), whenever I test the game, the character automatically moves left, and I can only force them to go up.

But my first encounter with this problem concerning top downs was when I downloaded a fanmade game called HetaOni. In the game, the character would only move RIGHT and up. I don't know if that game had the same problem as my steam games, or if it was something else entirely.

But this hasn't happened for every top down game I've played on this computer. The only other top down game that I have that works is a fanmade Pokemon game, Pokemon Reborn. The controls in that game work just fine.

I don't know if the problem has to do with steam or my computer. I've tried re-installing To The Moon, but that didn't work, and I've also swapped out keyboards before. I don't know what the problem is, but it's really annoying. Any ideas?

Ps: I don't know much about computers, so y'know. Use simple words....

Hey there, sorry for the troubles. Do you have any other control devices (joystick/yoke/rudders/joypad etc.) plugged in per chance? Those could definitely interfere by sending phantom input signals. Pressing randomly on the numpad keys (might need to numlock if first) seem to also be a possible solution to unstuck any signals.

Nope, none...

The best way of solution this problem is restart your computer.

If it doesn't work at all, the game can be played with a mouse, too.

But I can't control movement with the mouse, can I?

Also, unless you mean something more drastic than just turning my computer on and off again, restarting definitely doesn't work.

You can control movement with mouseclick, but it probably doesn't help if there are phantom inputs.

This is just an idea: Maybe screwing around in the F1 Menu controls could help something.
The rpg maker engine receives a button press signal for whatever reason, so changing controls might have an effect.

Ok, so I solved the problem sort of. Not sure why, but having a usb camera plugged in was making it go all wonky. So, I guess, try unplugging anything you don't need for the game, like chargers or usb cameras or whatever.

That reminds me of the issue a Dolphin emulator user had because a webcam was being recognized as a gamepad with one thousand buttons[forums.dolphin-emu.org]. Might be the same problem. Well, good to know that webcams are a potential problem point to check when input doesn't work, at least.

I am having a similar issue, except I can only move up and down. the mouse still works, though. I have a Corsair Vengance K70 Keyboard, and it has 2 USB plugs for it. Maybe that is my issue? I have no clue at this point.
