What's the point of being president?
Anyone else feel a little cheated concerning the amount of time, and lack of action, you spend being president? You make a few decisions that have no impact on the game, and then you become a virtual superhero. I mean, sure, your character gets referred to as the president or ruler of the free world throughout the game, but you never really get to do anything as prez.

With all the presidential hype and terminology surrounding the game (inauguration station, executive privilege DLC, cure cancer, etc.), I would have liked to play a few missions where you get to make world-changing decisions and see the benefits/consequences of your actions. It would have also been nice to have a free-roam mode before the aliens arrived while you're still in office.

I never tried the global nuclear strike thing, so I can't comment if it works or if it's even remotely entertaining.

It was all a joke that went too far.

It was kind of a throwaway plot device. The boss has ascended to the height of power, and then...

But that was it. All the advertising of being the president was a tease, and not what the game was about at all. I wouldn't say it was a joke that went too far, more like it didn't go far enough.

Not that it really mattered in the end.
It would be kinda weird if some random street gang leader from one city was singlehandedly fighting an extraterrestrial threat, wouldn't it? If he's President of the USA or 'leader of the free world' at least it makes a little more sense.

It shows the Saints reached the 'top' after all their struggles. Also, it just lends to the random comedy vibe of the game.

You guys wanted Sim-Government eh? a chance to really affect policy and change on the United States of America? really? It's Saints Row..the hell did you expect to be doing? a mission where you sign off on some documents or argue foreign policy?

A taste of it, sure, what with a lot the marketing for this game bombarding us with "you're the president! you're the president! you're the president! you're the president! you're the president! you're the president!"

Yeah, gimme a few levels to kick the tires on this presidential vehicle. Don't just give us that false hope then take it away after 20 minutes of gameplay.

I was dissappointed that pressing all the buttons didn't start global thermonuclear war...

Not sure why you all expected this. It's Saints Row and you knew what it was about. You really wanted to play Pres in the white house? Give me a break.

Why don't you go give yourself a break and have a KitKat. I agree with the OP.

It's factored into the plot in a few places, such as with the Keith David arc.

but...but...i cured cancer does that not count as being the best president?

to be honest a majority of the jokes are aimed at being the president so it fits quite well regardless
i really didnt expect anything more than...hey your president.... i mean its saints row

Totally agree with this. I didn't buy this game to sit in the oval office pulling levers on the ecnomy and the military, like half the planet thinks the POTUS does. I did it cause I was going to have super powers, huge breasts, and fight some aliens.
