Sick of Super Powers and Aliens, Already.
Here I am on the last mission and I'm now absolutely sick of Superpowers controlling nearly every aspect of the game, and the massive variety of aliens being spammed at me, and the annoying aspect of having to circulate through different powers to fight them effectively.

My lord, I never though I'd say this about a Saint Row game, but I think I'm actually hating fighting the rival faction. I know it's the biggest turn off I have when playing GTA IV, being I dislike fighting the police.

But Saint Row IV easily pulls it off as well. I hate fighting the Aliens. I hate that you're almost required to use super powers vs specific ones. I hate how if you try to use a Helicopter, Wardens will blow them out of the sky.

There is so much I'm disliking about the combination fo Super Powers and Aliens really. Aliens are not even funny like they were in the DLC for Saint Row III.

Super Powers were advertised as an optional fun toy, but they've been basically shuved down the players throat, as a required feature to complete a vast majority of the missions in game. It is quite annoying in the end.

I agree, Super powers are fun but they make the game too easy, i really like just driving around the city, i would be okay with the sci-fi type guns and vehicles but super powers just takes away something that really made Saints row fun

Superpowers were fun for the first hour then they got boring. Saints Row have been reduced to a Mario simulator where you jump around on platforms (houses) collecting coins...I mean clusters.

i watched my girlfreinds brother play it im not impressed it looks like if u smashed saints row with prototype
desx Aug 22, 2013 @ 9:43pm
Its not prototype. Its matrix parody. All superpower is a system hack :P

If you dont like the super powers, then dont use them lol. The only time you NEED to use them is on parts like when fighting a warden and you need to take down thier shields, or for side quests. Most of the time you can play without ever using super powers if you really want.

there will be mod support for your old school SR needs soon

Play the game on hardcore and its actually fairly challenging all the way through. Even with nearly maxed out damage reduction, you can get killed in just a few seconds.

Uggg... I have to agree. The game for me gets old and tattered pretty quick. This game is... hmmm... a kids game with a lot of x-rated adult content. Personally for me, SR2 was the creme of the crop in the series. The story, gameplay and overall character build was just that much better in my opinion. Everything in this game just seems so... cheesey and looping. By looping I mean, do this, do that.. then do that and do this and then do this and that again. I find me playing this SR in shorter spurts than the previous versions. Heck, I didn't even finish SR3. The outfit customization was dumbed down, and I hated that. I personally enjoyed layering jackets, t-shirts and stuff. Blahh... don't get me wrong. The story is decent, but the damn paradies are not that clever... Metal Gear, Double Dragon, Shadowgate, TRON and I think a few others. There are so many other games with more rich content out there than this one. I wish I would have waited until this game went on sale. Oh Well, I hope I didn't piss the hardcore SR community off, but I can't help it... but SR lost it's edge!

Huh. I've played through the entire game and I still have a lot of fun with the super powers.

Though to be fair I've always viewed Saints Row as a Comic Book Villain Simulator... so this just feels like the natural order of things. I've never put more time into a Saints Row Title in so short of time.

Well I can not say the super powers are not really fun, it is just the vast requirement of having to use super powers is what is making them less fun than they used to be when I first started playing.

Seriously super powers should of existed on specific game modes/missions not ruling most aspects of the entire game. It would of been better prefered if you had to do something specific to activate your super powers outside of key missions which require their use. In turn this would make the availability of super powers less common when just goofing around and when you do have them activated far more valuable being you can't use them all the time. That is how it should of been done.

Say ie you kill so many Zin, and suck out their souls or something funky like that, fill up a bar of a sort then press a button to activate super powers, then you can use them until a power gadge finally runs out, then you'd get to start the proccess over again. That is how it should of been done! lol

This would of made it so they wouldn't of had to make the entire game revolve around the super powers. As it is no even Genki activities require Super Powers... there is almost nothing in the game that you can do that super powers are not present, or have to be present eventually including rampaging in an attack helicopter or vehicle.

You can not even sprint without using super sprint....
Timtato Aug 23, 2013 @ 5:45pm
Yeah you can't sprint without it being super (unless you intentionally get hit by a super power cancelling grenade)... but it lets you use your Boduken Car entry and Beatdowns from a longer distance, so at least there's that.

I personally feel that the super powers are great, especially since only Wardens specifically require you to use them to defeat them. The Wardens shields can be brought down using the Mech Suit, but that isn't till the end of the game.

But again, as I've said, I always imagine myself as playing a super villain while playing Saints Row.... so I personally feel that there aren't enough super powers lol. I can see how someone might feel that they are excessive if they're trying to take the gameplay even the slightest bit seriously though. Maybe the next Saints Row should incorporate a "High Fantasy/Low Fantasy" option to either maximize or minimize the effect of powers on gameplay.

I watched the Angry Joe review and I figured people would hate it. I'm still buying it when the price goes down (Steam's next big sale) and they get the bugs out. I learned a long time ago never to buy a game when it first hits the market it is always bound to either not live up to standards or buggy as hell. Skyrim doesn't count because my Mom bought is for me on day one cause I had to pay rent and couldn't afford it at the time. That was for the xbox 360 and I really didn't care about the bugs I was so happy to get the one game I been wanting since I heard about it. COD Black Ops 2 They could have kept that ♥♥♥♥. No more Treyarch games please. yeah I'll buy Sr4 whenever it goes on sale play for about 15 minutes and probably never play it again, but at least I won't toss it in the garbage like I did BO2 or have Steam delete it from my game library like BO2 or will I? Probably not. This is the reason I always tell people wait til game actually comes out before buying but people just seems to never listen and go pre purchasing. Haven't Gamers learned anything from Aliens: colonial Marines? Guess not. Ranting, but I have a while to wait and ponder before actually dishing out my hard earned money.

Even before Ironing out the bugs it's the most fun I've had with a Saints Row title, 2 included. I guess you can only benefit from waiting though, as it can only get better.
