Saints Row IV

Saints Row IV

Effects Audio Super Low
Essentially the title says it all. Music and dialog is super loud, but all effects are very quiet, almost muted. The volume sliders are all equal. If I'm driving, there's basically no car sound, guns are very quiet, and impacts/punches/etc are super quiet as well.

Very tough to play without hearing any of the awesome sound effects!

It is very much being looked at. We're having some trouble reproducing it internally in order to fix it, but we're getting more hardware that matches some of your setups in order to do so. I'm going to try to push this into the modding patch for SR3 if I can. This has internal interest to be fixed in an SR4 patch so as soon as we can figure it out, we will fix it.
Problems are only when I set my speaker setup to 5.1. As soon as I set them to Stereo all is good.
Funny, I have the reverse issue. I only really notice it in cutscenes, but the dialog is always super low. For example, just this weekend Kinzie was giving me the robot and I could barely hear the dialog, cranked up the volume and I nearly blew out my eardrums when the robot powered up.

Realtek ALC892, Driver Version 6.0.1.6870
Set up as 5.1, with speakers properly connected.)

(Had a similar problem release day when I was playing it. I could barely here Zinyak in the first scenes; but at the time I had figured it was because I had left it set up as 5.1 when I was only using headphones at the time.)
It's not about the audio drivers or so, it's just your game is bugged.

Thanks Knobby we really apreciate it. My specs can be found in an earlier post. I have noticed that the issue only occurs when using my speakers. if i plug in a USB headset it sounds run. In case it helps the headset is a logitech Headset/Mic combo and the speakers are Bose Compainon 2
I had the same problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled and the games been working ever since
Any news on this? Not any of the following have changed the problems:
- opening VLC Media Player, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, Youtube Video and running a music track or music video and then pausing it or letting it run
- watching the opening videos completely
- Alt-Tabbing in and out
- reinstalling for the fourth time now, no change

Still I hear not:
- no radio sound, no matter which radio station chosen
- no Comments from the main character
- no vehicle horn
- no weapon sound
- no pedestrian talks
- no ambient sounds
- no taunts/compliments

Sounds I can hear are:
- bullets dropping out of the guns when fired
- bullets hitting nearby materials
- steps
- cutscene audio including voices
- vehicle engine sounds, although sometimes lagging

Game patched to latest patch (4), i7980x, 480mGTX, Realtek onboard soundcard, 6GB RAM, plenty of space on HDD.

This problem already persisted in SR:TT and SR:IV is already out for weeks, wtf is the agenda with your tech dep?!

Bumping this.....its been ages now and SR4 still isn't using my surround sound, which sucks as it has a great soundtrack.......
Just for good measure, I'm using Realtek onbaord 5.1 audio (as I notice a lot of people in this thread are.....) and have tried pausing an audio track in the background as well as letting the bink intro videos run without skipping. Seems odd to me that the last update in this thread was over a month ago and nothing seems to have been done.

As I run around the city hitting upgrade nodes I have super quiet, no bass dubstep playing, punctuated with "WOOOOO" and "YEEAAAAAH" at top volume. This was initially pretty funny. Now it's getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ irritating.

This is a weird bug. Here's what I can tell you:
1. We've reproduced it in house and are actively working on a fix.
2. This bug is kinda silly and the cause of it confuses a lot of really smart people.
3. It can be worked around by setting your PC to play in stereo only.
4. If you're using a receiver, you can manually change the receiver settings to Dolby Digital and the audio will work properly.
5. "Realtek" is basically a swear word around here lately.

I have confidence that this will be patched when a fix is completed, tested, and distributed.
I used a Xonar DX and had my audio set to stereo in-game, in Xonar control panel and in Windows sound settings. I had the bug for most of the time I played the game, but sometimes it randomly worked fine.
I have XFI Titanium and Reatek on board is disabled,Put it on Stereo in XFI control panel (Also Xfi Crystaliser is off as well) and still have quiet sounds (Cars, landing on the floor after a jump, etc)

hmm not having any problem at all i hear everything just fine i think its most off when ppl use speakers or sound coming from the monitor etc

idk where ppl get all these weird isseus from but i almost played this game flawlessly beside the very 1st weird glitches and stuff
Is everyone that's getting this issue using speakers or headphones or what? Are you plugging directly into the PC or are you going through a crossover or receiver?

Basically if you could list all the technology and cables between your sound card and your ears, that'd help add more data to the bug report and there might be something in there we're not seeing locally.

Thanks!

I'm using a Corsair Vengeance 2000 wireless headset with a usb reciever plugged into the computer right now.
