Saints Row IV - Bugs and technical issues thread
Bugs in my open world game? Impossible!! Sometimes something weird does show up in the real world when a game is out in the wild, even after the lab has cleansed the game of bugs for months and months on end.

We tested this game on a wide variety of PC setups, but you cannot test every possible PC setup in the world. Do you know how many possible combinations there are? A lot.

The vast majority of you should have little to no problems in their gameplay experience, but if you do encounter a technical issue or a bug after release, and would like it fixed sooner rather than later, you are in luck! We would like to fix it too, and we'd rather be prepared. Help us help you, so to say!

We've launched quite a few PC games on Steam this year, and have always had a very positive experience with Steam users who want the same result as we do: fix things. Before you can fix something, you need to find out what makes it break, though. A thread like this can be helpful to QA and other dev teams to find that out, so please follow the below instructions if you do encounter a problem.

This is how you do report a problem
1. Make sure you match the minimum requirements listed on the Store page.

2. Describe your issue with as much detail as possible. Maybe this one random thing doesn't seem important to you, but it could be the randomest thing in the world that causes some super weird thing to happen. If you have already tried various things to fix something, let us know as well!

3. Leave as many technical details about your PC as you are willing to share. We understand you probably don't want to paste your entire DxDiag in a comment. But listing these things will help us pin down a possible problem if there end up being any:

- CPU
- Motherboard
- Amount and type of RAM
- Graphics card
- Graphics driver version
- Monitor set up and connection to display (HDMI, DVI, VGA)
- Audio card or onboard audio chipset
- Headphone brand and model if you use headphones
- Anything else you might think is relevant, even if it doesn't make sense (SSD RAID archive setup, a GTX Titan in a PCIe 1x slot, etc.)

4. Don't quote someone's giant comment and add "I have the same." Please cut down the quote a bit so it will keep the thread readable.

5. Please keep this thread dedicated to reporting technical problems for PC.

But I'm not playing on PC
What are you doing on this Steam thread? You can contact our tech support at techsupport@deepsilver.com for other problems.

For those saying you can't run the game on a drive other than C, I am able to, so doesn't seem to be a solid issue for all.

My problem is a slight stutter when panning the camera and a white outline that occasionally shows around various characters. Nothing game breaking, but still annoying. Tried in-game vsync on/off and using d3d overrider. Ultra settings @ 1080p.

Win7 64
i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz
16gb ddr3 @ 1866mhz
Evga gtx670 SC sli
Kingston 85gb ssd (win install)
Kingston 225gb ssd (steam + games)
HDMI cable to 65in Panasonic plasma

Can't recall mobo / audio chipset. =/

The game starts fine. However, after the opening cinematic, when I am given control of the character, he starts running right as if the "D" key has been depressed and held. I've unplugged my keyboard a few times but that did not help. I've checked the cache and reinstalled as well to no avail.

Another funny thing is that when navigating the menus before starting or continuing a game, the button keys keep flashing between XBOX360 buttons and keyboard buttons. For example, when I press the down key to navigate to "Options," the key located at the bottom keeps flashing between the "Enter" key and the green "A" button from the XBOX controller. After navigating the menus, the menus get stuck. I can still move the cursor and move the mouse around but clicking the left button to choose a menu item doesn't register and nor does any keyboard commands. This is crazy considering SR3 worked great on my PC. Specs below:

Same thing is happening to me.

-Win 7 64
-i5 3570k @ 4.3 ghz
-ASRock mobo
-8 gb ram ddr3 @ 1600 mhz
-HIS IceQ X Radeon 7850
-Catalyst 13.1
-HDMI connection to 23" Asus monitor (1920 x 1080 @ 59 hz)
-Patriot 60gb ssd as boot drive
-1tb 7200rpm HDD as storage drive (games run from here including steam)

I changed my next radio key to Q but pushing it doesn't actually work, it still thinks it's the . key. Onscreen prompt even says push Q.

If you go to image as designed later in the game any options that are chosen through images (I.E. Eye color, Hair color, ect.) Become unselectable at times. Making these parts of customization impossible.

I'm running this (Though this seems more of a scripting issue than a bug from my system's end.)

Windows 7 home premium x64 Sp 1
12 GB of RAM DDR3
Nvidia GTX 560M (3GB of RAM)
Intel Core i7
Laptop Screen
Laptop itself is an Acer Republic of gaming something or another. Can't remember at the moment.

After a while, it freezes all of my keyboard controls. I have a wired 360 controller that plays the game just fine, all this happens when it is not plugged in and I dont have any joy2key or any controller emulator running.

Processor: i7-2600 3.4GHz
Graphics Card: nvidia 560 Ti
RAM: 8GB

I have almost the same problem, and I did in the character editer that was released a week or two ago as well. I have not tested with a controller because I do not have one. Also, going to keybindings page stops my controls from working and I have to force quit the game. Makes using the character editer impossible, so I can't even play the game with a custom character.

Running an asus g74-sx
nvidia 560m
8gb ram

edit: OK, i had to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL all virtual controller software from my computer, regardless of whether or not it was running. Pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, but the game works fine now.

I'm getting some pretty serious microstutter and the framerate seems to hover around 40-50 while driving or super sprinting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like I should be getting better performance with my rig.

I've modded a few cars in Rim Jobs before, but I'm in the process of modding an Attrazione from my list of "downloaded" vehicles. Problem is, none of my paint choices will apply, and I can't even hit "Accept" or "Cancel". The options pop up, but they do strictly nothing.

Not sure this is relevant, but I'm running on an Nvidia 9800 GT, with my Intel Dual Core CPU clocking in at 3,00 Ghz. I've got four gigs of RAM and I'm running off Windows 7.

Posted a thread here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/206420/discussions/0/846961716484860811/

I found a temporary fix. Some people had similar issues in Saints Row 3. Just have a media player open with a song paused (Ive only tried this with VLC). This seems to fix the missing/low sound effects.

Same issue as Leam more or less, mine happened while attempting to change a decal the first time, it doesn't lock up the game exactly, music still plays, animation still runs in the background, but you lose all control, can't accept/decline, ESC won't go back, etc. It seems like it kinda happens randomly, not on the same menu options all the time.

- GeForce 320.49 (Latest stable as of this post)

Can't get past the second cutscene where the choppers fly through. It goes black and locks everything up, crashes my system to the point of having to force restart. Tried reinstalling drivers, it's installed to C:, and I can't seem to get anything working. Crashed 5-6 times.

I'm getting a similar bug. It first happened after buying clothes; I attempted to save an outfit, but, after typing in a name for the outfit, it wouldn't allow me to Enter, Save, or Cancel. I could only back out with Esc.

Then, I just had a bug at Image As Designed where I was changing my eyebrows. It selected the brow, went to the color chooser and wouldn't allow me to click on anything or back out with Esc. I could only rotate my model and do nothing else. I had to force-close the program in Task Manager, as there was nothing else I could do.
