Won't even start up, no error message? (RESOLVED)
Hi,

I just bought Saints Row IV yesterday, along with 2 and 3 in the franchise bundle. 2 and 3 work fine. Saint's Row IV, however, won't even start up. I click Play, and it says preparing to launch. There's no error message of it already running, nothing like that. It says preparing to launch, then that window closes and...nothing. I've uninstalled and re-installed 3 times and verified the game cache many more. Please help, I can't even play it. I have an Nvidia card with all the latest drivers, and the game is installed on C:\. I won't bother listing specs, but trust me, I can run Battlefield 4 on Ultra at 50fps; I'm sure I can run this. I'm on Windows 8.1 if that means anything.

You're not the only one. I've tried the windowed mode and checked my drivers. Every time I go to start a new game, it goes to start up and then boots me out. I am very disappointed because I was going to buy it tomorrow. I think I might not now since I can't get it to run.

Well maybe I'll wait until the free weekend is over, see if that somehow affects it.

Check the stickied Troubleshooting FAQ at the top of the forum. Make sure to try all steps listed in both the Basic Troubleshooting section, as well as the "app is already running" section.

If you're still having problems, a couple of things that aren't in the FAQ yet that we're working on adding:
* Don't run the game on an external hard drive. Make sure it's installed on an internal drive
* Don't have Japanese set as the default language in IME

If you're still having issues, please post a dxdiag and we can go from there.

Well it starts up now, but it's doing the "Not enough space on disk to create save file" thing, even though I have 266GB free -_-

Try closing Steam, then starting it "As an Administrator". Users have reported reinstalling the game has fixed this issue for them, but try verifying your cache first to see if that works.

OK, verifying cache after running as Admin worked. I'm playing it now, thanks for the help people.

Pardon me for going off-topic, but "Gamer of Awesomeness," what does being a girl have anything to do with anything, and why did you bother pointing it out? My 14 year old daughter can right-click a game in Steam and click "Properties," launch things with admin privileges, and follow every hint in this thread. She troubleshoots games without my help, and has done so since she was around 11 or 12.

I'm a boy, btw, and I declare that technical knowledge and experience have absolutely nothing to do with gender.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but have you considered an Xbox One or a PS4? Compared to gaming on a PC, there's little to no troubleshooting or technical know-how needed.
