Game Won't Launch
I just bought and installed the game today, and it isn't launching at all. All that happens is it will load up for quite literally 1/2 a second and instantly crash/close; somtimes displaying the message "... app already running ..." and 90% of the time displaying no error message at all.

I've attempted the fixes in the Troubleshooting FAQ, and nothing has worked. My display.ini file simply shows:

# Display options.
# This file is rewritten whenever options are changed in the menu.

# Everything will be auto-detected on first execution.
# Change the performance preset to a number between 1 and 5
# to over-ride auto-detection.
Preset = -1

On top of that my drivers are all up to date.

I'm at an utter loss and would greatly appreciate assistance. >,<

Same. Game wont launch. Verified files, checked processes all the stuff the FAQ said to do and none of it applies tbh. the game doesn't erroer or anything. It's not running in the back ground. It simply does nothing when I try and launch it. Nothing....

Got the same issue. Have spent all in all about 3 hours trying, testing, looking for something to fix this. I have tryed windowsd mode, running in compatability, Running older direct x, Running in admin, changing the display settings in the folder. Loads and loads of things. My pc specs are.

Intel i5-4670k
Gigabyte gtx 660 ti
8GB at 1866MHz
Windows 8.1

I'm having the same issue. The window that pops up very briefly says "Preparing to launch Saints Row IV" and then nothing. Steam thinks that I played the game because it shows up in my play history. I tried running the game by opening the "SaintsRowIV.exe" executable and I get an "Entry Point Not Found" error. It says, "The procedure entry point GetFileInformationByHandleEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll."

Same issue, I bought Saints Row IV last night and havent played it yet due to this "no launch". I thought about the issue, and also had help from friends, then realized this same exact thing happened when I got Borderlands 2 at its release. More-over, this is the reason why I stopped using Steam in the first place... lucky for Steam I have a bad memory or they wouldnt have got my money!

funny thing is, ive played the game for a whole 17 hours and now my friend got it to, so we thought to play some co-op, but now my game wont start, ive havent changed a thing since then, and now it will only show openings and then crash to desktop.

I've noticed some people are lucky enough to at least see the logo's and such before crash, I'm not even that lucky. My game starts up and INSTANTLY crashes. Not even time to familiarize myself before it ♥♥♥♥♥ me dry...

I just discovered that Saints Row IV does not support Windows XP. Windows Vista or higher. :-/

i'm one of the lucky ones that at least loads thru logos to the main menu... here's a fix that worked for me (my game loaded to main menu, but crashed immediately starting a game, or crashes if display options were changed when attempted to save those changes...)

... only tested this for 5 minutes of game play after making these changes, but the game started fine, played, and had no further crash in that timeframe...

1) ... go to "c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\saintsrowiv" and open the file. "display.ini"... edit with notepad, changing "fullscreen = true" to "fullscreen = false" and "preset = 5" to "preset = 1" and save...

2) launch sriv and start a game in windowed mode... once in the game, pause, and change the display option from windowed to fullscreen...

3) once back in the game, exit and restart, and will run in fullscreen w/out crashing...

good luck... [ ; p

I'm too stupid to understand that crap. And my computer is too crappy to load that page without freezing up. I think I'll just wait to upgrade my computer.
