What control layouts did you try?

Nothing works, not even the touchscreen.

Does the Deck completely lock up? Or are you still able to bring up the Steam overlay?
Works for me but i used the beta candidate / preview update.

The game is running fine and you can bring up the Steam Overlay, but no amount of screwing around with the Layouts changes anything. It's like there is no control interface for the game itself. The main menu just sits there and you can't interact with it.

I will repeat my question: What control layouts did you try? Be specific.

I'm asking because the previous version of the game had a botched implementation of Native Steam Input, and a lot of the control layouts for Native Steam Input are still available, and the "official" layout may even still be the default. Any of those Native Steam Input configurations are not going to work on the Re-Elected version of the game, because it doesn't use Native Steam Input.

It's entirely possible you've tried control layouts that have no chance of working, but there's no way I can tell if that's the case if you can't tell me what layouts you tried.

I know I'm reviving a partially dead topic but I wanted to say that no matter what control layouts you try, there is absolutely 0 input as soon as you get to the menu. I've tried the official and some community ones, I even tried a self-made one just emulating Keyboard & Mouse. Nothing works.

Not even the touch screen works.

I realised after holding the STEAM button and using the right touch pad, there's random things you can click on, which eventually bring input back, then it's lost again with a overlay that is not visible.

What ever happened in this update, it no longer functions well on Steam Deck. My assumption is there's some EGS overlay trying to display to tell you about something, but it doesn't render at all on either the Steam Deck or Linux as a whole.

I can say that regardless of layout, if you can deal with losing input every 10 seconds to click on some invisible buttons, the default layout works fine for the game. But because of this invisible menu, nothing works.

I've tried the game in both "Game Mode" and "Desktop Mode", windowed and fullscreen. I cannot get this overlay or menu to render to stop it from ever appearing again.

Just tried this - it works for a couple of seconds, even letting me mash buttons to skip the intro videos, then goes back to the original issue after a few button presses in the Main Menu

Sorry, but where are they? How do I do that?
Go system settings and enable developer mode then in the game settings there should be a new tab named developer / delete proton files, or you can manually delete the folder 206420 in steamapps / compatdata in desktop mode.

Okay, I did this and it worked for a little while longer - I was able to get into Options and have a tinker for about 20secs before the controls stopped working again.

This is so silly!
