Why is Epic games stuff running at background?

When I turned it on I immediately got a message that it was installing without any persmission for that, I'm very against it myself from extra launcher at my PC

Got totaal 3 (Steam) (Uplay) (origin)
Don't need spyware on my PC (epic..

Because they integrated EOS (Epic Online Services) into the game fro crossplay, very similar to the Tomb Raider games that had their multiplayer updated.

You can opt to move it back to the original version.

Game Properties -> Betas -> Select the beta branch you would like to opt into:

They have to include crossplay if they want to get the free money from Epic for bringing the game to their store, which apparently takes priority over the people who actually paid for the game on the basis of Steamworks.

It's good that there is a beta branch to avoid EOS, but it shouldn't have come to that to begin with. If only consumer protection had adapted to the digital age.

If they would cared about Steam customers. They coud've made EOS optional. We've paid for the game and don't have multiplayer anymore. Just like fans not angry already. Let's ruin old games that still being actively played and selling.

Yup, just finished updating from the SRIV_Legacy branch and all of the EOS stuff was present in the directory. The installer tried to run when the game launched.

what a nightmare but most didnt believe, dont trust epic
its a singleplayer game, but there gathering data most likely even if your playing offline
AD companies pay a ton for our data among others

Alright. Gearbox is stealing other's games.
I've been having so much fun playing this game with friends. Now Gearbox took my game from me. And demand me to install Epic's malware just for the right to play again. Because Epic has paid Gearbox to abuse me.

this is deppressing i never even got to play it much less with others

You've lost a lot. This game is much more fun to play with friends than GTAV. Replayability is very high. Replaying campaign with someone who wants to play through the game or collect all achievements never gets old.

gta is like repeatably doing the same actions
but anything that forces epic on me, or pulls a stunt like this annoys me.
praise be if the old build still has online multiplayer i have my gog backed up
as for the new one offline mode is only method so prob not.
as i have the original build i wont allow it to update....

Multiplayer must be restored for the old game in original state. Customer forgiveness has it's limits.

legal wording in most contracts with video games with online services
i learned long ago the fine print usually mentions, online services can be ended at anytime.
which is why i avoided command and conquer collection as was tied too origin, didnt have all those years ago, and the potential for multiplayer to end which it had by time i got it...
